"No gun or knife posts"????

Why is this a rule? Does this mean no posts in the for sale sections or no posts at all? Because if that means no posts at all then I suppose I am guilty of a rule infraction due to my talking about firearms and knives in my above question. Its a viscous cycle.

It's to stop arguments and cultural disagreements - weapons are frowned upon by a lot of countries outside of the US, and this is a global forum

Here are the rules that apply. No further discussion is needed.

6.CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS OR POSTS such as those relating to politics, race, culture, religion, sexual orientation or discrimination, violence (toward persons or animals) will be subject to the final and absolute discretion of the Moderators to be immediately locked and/or removed without notice to any member. No gun, knife, weapon threads or pictures of such since we are a worldwide forum and many members are not comfortable with this type of material. Infraction points and a possible lifelong ban will inevitably accompany such posts or threads.

7.MODERATORS and ADMINISTRATOR DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

Good call Master.

Suppose sometimes I forget about the 6 billion others out there.

Honest question, I am in the market for a new set of kitchen cutlery; Yato, something high-end Japanese or Sweedish, that something that can be discussed?

Well cutlery is something very different than a weapon....but don't mistake this as an invitation to display weapons.

All very helpful. There are a lot of lonely people out there, I suppose all they have to do is sign up here and post a "special" question. They are sure to get plenty of love.

Thanks for the clarity guys. In my experience, when talking about something as exclusive as the time pieces we discuss on here, there are other "exclusive" items that are also of interest; cigars, fine cars, obscure beers from around the world, fine kitchen cutlery, art, vintage items, etc. So I hope you all see where I was coming from.

Ill check the links provided. Thanks a ton!!!

There are some of us that dislike and disagree with this rule, but we abide by it. There were some very informative threads on the subjects that we may no longer mention, but they always seemed to evoke emotional and negative reactions from others that did not share the same interests. Sometimes it was cultural, sometimes it was personal, but it always seemed to devolve into unnecessary bickering between the "likes" and "dislikes."

Personally, I miss these threads. I still subscribe to the "If you're not interested, don't read it" school of thought, and I apply it often on TRF. I go elsewhere to read threads on these topics now.

See what I mean? Even when the threads were posted in the "Open Discussion Forum," this is where the conversation went.

You've made your point, and nobody here needs you to tell them what this forum is. The Rolex Forum, and this is the OPEN DISCUSSION subforum. It's perfectly reasonable for someone new to ask about it, without being replied to with smart-ass answers.

Like you said, it's best to find other venues to discuss firearms in, of which there are plenty on the web, thankfully. It's in the rules, and that's that.

I've got a few plastic forks and knives which my grandkids pick up from McDonald's. Can I show them?

Have you checked this out then, John?

http://www.foodieforums.com/vbulleti...-Cutlery-Forum

I'm pretty sure we won't be opening a "Cutlery" sub-forum here on TRF!
