Guys, let poor Gaby's incident send out a MESSAGE to all of us!!

That's right, my friends.................it's really very sad that we sometimes have to learn lessons and pick up messages from someone elses misadventure in life!!

Life sucks, but at least what happened to Gaby should be an eye-opener to ALL of us to do our damned homework before forking over our hard-earned $$$ for what we may think is a genuine Rolex.

I sincerely hope and pray that Gaby gets his money back. I can imagine the frustration and devastation he's going through.

FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DON'T GET DUPED!!

Best wishes to all and good luck to Gaby - JJ

JJ, can you please shed a light into this...like how did he found out? I actually thought it looked fake when I saw the pictures he posted, but was unsure since the angle wasnt clear enough. One thing I noticed is the rehault....engraving looked misaligned...I just dont want to bring this into his attention... so sad..

How did he find out? Well, if you've gone through that multi-page thread, the comparative pics posted by Larry and others just about say it all. The number of discrepancies are many, and here I am wearing my own Sub and can see the notable flaws.

Guys, with Rolex watches, I strongly recommend just TWO options:

1. Buy from your local AD if you can get a good discount.

2. Buy from one of our trusted TRF sellers.

It can't get simpler and easier than that.

I have bought all my watches from an AD I like the peace of mind I get and I like my name on the warranty card, but I am going to make my next purchase here and that is only because my AD says there is a slim to none chance they will have an SS Daytona for me anytime soon.

What are you talking about...just last week there was a thread where everyone said that the SS Daytonas were "everywhere". I think one guy had his AD with 8 waiting in the window.

$6,000 for a real Rolex seems like a better deal than $5,000 for a pile of - well, you know.

In this case, the deal with Gabby and who "ripped him off" isn't so clear.
While I personally think I would only buy from "my" AD, I wouldn't let Gabby's STORY turn you off to the David, Mosco's etc. from this site.

Now, if there is a 14 page thread on one of them...well, I'll give up

JJ,
Clearly you are a better shopper than Gabby!

You are smart and buy from trusted seller, I am sorry that I have zero sympathy for anyone that does buy from a stranger and send $5,000 + dollars on a watch that is known to be a nearly billion dollar "replica" market, only to be "SHOCKED" when it turns out to be fake.

I have said a bunch of times on here, I have never paid MSRP (except SS Daytona, but got some Rolex goodies out of it) from an AD. I may not have had the best deal ever on my watches but I have also never lost 1 second of sleep wondering if my Rolexes were real, were fully intact the way they were meant to be, if they were gotten by anything other than 100% legit means by the AD and that all applicable taxes and licensing fees were paid. Anyway, enough of my rant.

See below, clearly you can get a perfect Rolex for less than $5,000 - if you are back in 2001.
PS- don't let the $3,575 MSRP fool you, I was twentysomething years old, jeans and a soaked rain "hoodie" and got $$$ off of MSRP from an AD I had never done business with in my life.

-Pete

One thing is clear, for all the effort people expend taking photos, nobody really looks. Makes me feel better about my iPhone photos. I leave the DSLR stuff to my wife. I can only imagine what she would say if I asked her to photo my watches and upload them.

I had thought about that as well. I just figured if someone is posting a photo to sell a watch it gets fully examined if it is just hey look at my watch, then everyone just glances and says nice watch.

Wait...so he's been a very active member of this forum for a while now but chose to buy his Sub from some (unknown to us) seller in another country rather than dealing with one of the MANY tried and true sellers on here?? And he paid $5K for it?!

Sorry, but I don't believe that story one bit.

Everyone's dancing around that issue for now and it's probably better to do so until more is known.

Those iPhones take some pretty good photos, actually--maybe, too good.
