Wouldn't say hatred, they just don't hold value at all...except a very few rare ones.

Right on. No hatred at all, I love some of their designs, and I think they're a solid watch, but they don't hold their value AT ALL.

No hatred here but they don't do much for me anymore. I can't quite put it into words but there is something "unclean" about many of the designs. I find this has worsened over the years.
My first decent watch was the old version F1. It's way too small for me now so my wife wears it. I really liked the design of that one. |

no hatred.. just dislikes I guess due to their uncertain resale value.

I'll be honest. I don't feel like their watches are built well. I've looked at them several times and just don't feel the quality. Also their bands are just ugly to me.
Do I hate them...no....just don't like them save a few vintages I've seen online, but never in the metal.

Tags used to make good watched 30+ years ago, imho. I don't know why they went downward in quality, design, and style. My 2c.

I won't say they're overpriced but I will say that, at any given Tag price point, there are other watches I'd rather have.

So where would you rate Breitling and Omega in comparison to a Tag?

Never have been impressed with them.
When I was in my early teens everyone was getting them for a graduation from middle school, bar mitvah or something or another at that time, I saw them EVERYWHERE and there were TONS when my parents took me to Mexico over spring breaks. Just never won me over, never really impressed me with quality or design. At one point a watchmaker I used said the fakes from Australia were better than the real ones.

Tags have become more and more expensive and they are begining to out-price themselves as a brand. I would not mind paying 800 or 1200 dollars for one, but they generally dont appeal to me. Anything costing more money than that falls into Omega/Longines/Breitling terrirtory.
I had the choice of buying an automatic tag or quartz SMP when I was graduating high school. It was about the same money. I went for the SMP, better build, better quality, more timeless, and had more class has a brand. I still wear it today, if I bought a Tag, I don't think I would....it's something that looks a bit immature to me. but that's just my opinion. The only Tag design i fell in love with was the Kirium...wish they still made that and in a larger size.

They are okay, I dont hate them. I actually like their monaco designs. Though they are not really bang for your buck watch.. And the fact that you sell them at almost next to nothing, its not a good watch to have unless you want to keep it forever.

They don't build quality timepieces, imho. They use heavy marketing and celebrities to make think people they're luxury watches when they really are just generic ETA movement-fitted pieces. Seiko and Citizen watches, in the same price-point, are of better quality, but Tag has done a good job of branding the product so people think they're getting something better when they're really not...

? is what I am thinking? I do not feel that way. I like all watches. You pay for what you get. I would wear a tag. I ended up with Rolex becuase I always wanted to own one then another and well that is a different story. But Tag yes nice looking watches.

I used to have a Tag when I was a young punk and had it for 7 years before I gave it away as a present to an uncle after replacing the bracelet with a strap because the bracelet was not in good condition. It is still working and its over 15 years old!
I dont hate tags, just prefer Rolex. |

All my first watches were Tags (about 4 of them). My first automatic was a Tag. About 5 years ago I was interested in a Grand Carrera GMT but decided against it. They served me well when I had 'em and their newer designs look really good.
Really, the only thing going against them is resale. Otherwise, I still put them above Longines.

I have yet to see one that captures my imagination. I haven't really looked that hard at them though either.

A friend of mine has a quartz Tag Aquaracer and paid about £850($1350) for it, i wouldn't pay that for a quartz watch unless it was an Oysterquartz.

The first "real" luxury swiss watch I owned was a $2,800 Tag Aquagraph. I thought it was the cats meow...then I owned a Rolex. It didn't last long in the collection after that. Plus I took a pretty big hit when I sold it.
