He just gives good discounts but not the best I have seen.
Every dealer could give you a discount especially on TT and full gold models. I don't consider his prices to be amazing, just ok.

Sorry, $1500 for a new DJ is not going to happen unless Gil has taken leave of his senses.

exactly.

He doesnt even have any at that price.

Gil is a huge collector as well as a great seller. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from him but it just happens that I always use a AD in my area.

Its really not all about the discount. Yes its good if you get 5-7% but overall, I dont really care if I get one. I bought 3 watches from Jared the galleria of jewelry, there a corportate store so discounts avg from 0%-15% depending on the watch. Its already pre set in there price book and they wont do any diff then what corp says.

I just bought my 4th watch, a SS GMT II C from Avant gold on dale mabry and I will DEFANITLY be buying from them again. I wasnt even a customer, I called over the phone, they had one in stock , and they even held it for 4 days until I could get to the store.

What watch are you looking for and how much of a discount are you trying to attain?

Amen to that, bro.

Although discounts are great, a good relationship with an AD is even better.

Btw, how's the traffic on Bruce B Downs these days? I have some family down that way and have spent many an hour at the red lights there, waiting for my turn to move up to the next red light, then the next, etc.

I actully live off bruce b downs on cross creek and its really not that bad. They have widened the roads and it helped alot. Of course during the rush hr, I am never on the roads as its pretty backed up and people cannot drive in FL.

I used to live in CA, and I visited portland quite often. I kinda miss the weather over there.

I'd pay more if necessary at an AD rather than feed his burgeoning ego.

Ancient history, Bo. It's a very inside joke that would take too long to explain.

Agreed!!! I tried to do business with him when I was in the market for my Rootbeer GMT, but he pulled a "bait & switch", then wouldn't even consider a small discount, even though the watch he was finally trying to palm off on me was older and his price was WAY over the mark. I finally wound up dealing with Seattle Watch Service, and got a newer, better Rollie for less money.

I am NOT impressed with Gil at all!

It's not that it's bad, it just would not be my first choice. As I said, I tried to deal with him once and communication was just difficult/not what I would expect when forking over so much $$$....just alittle too much attitude for my taste. Does not mean he's a bad guy but....

First choice would AD....nothing compares.

Second choice would a be respected (i.e.someone who has not just signed up yesterday) member of this board if what you want is available. For example.

If I had to go with grey market i'd probably look at Alan Furman first. But that's just me.

He's so far up his own a**.

Unless I've mixed this Gil up with someone else, in which case you can stryke this reply from the thread.
