11th Hour before Purchase. Help me decide.
Hey guys,
I'm at the 11th hour before my first AP purchase. On the fence on three different models and would love TRF feedback on which to get. My collection to date consists mostly of conservative type pieces, Rolex, IWC, and PP. I'm looking for something a little different, and I've found three pieces that for some reason, are all different, but tough for me to decide. Famous last words, but I'm trying to stick to purchasing only one piece of each brand going forward, there are just too many brands out there for me that I would like to try. I also tend to not sell watches if possible. I do have to wear suits most of the week, but I have plenty of watches that work with suits, so this would be the leisure purchase, so to speak. 1) AP ROO 44 Steel - loudest of the bunch, a piece I love looking at, a little gun-shy about going with something so pronounced. 2) AP RO Skeleton Steel - something closer to what I'm used to in terms of size, love the skeleton (hence why the millenary appeals to me so much as well). This would be the only piece of the three I haven't seen in person. My AD has located one, but it's all the way across the country. Is the finishing inside as impressive as the millenary? 3) Millenary 4101 - a design that has captivated me from the start, but feel it's a little too dressy possibly, and definitely want my first AP purchase to be a safe one.

The 15305 are one of My favorites as well as the 4101 in steel.
Both pieces are very unique and the ROO can Always be added later on! Either model would be a great pick-up, And i'm looking forward the pics!

AP ROO 44 Steel.
Fits your criteria for 'the leisure purchase' and also 'a safe purchase' as IMO easier to flip later. |

Door number two! The classic RO combined with the openwork is a winning combo, IMO.
You've got three listed, but I suspect you're loving one just a bit more than the others. Sometimes its not about logic - go with your gut.

They are all so different--only you can answer that question. Either way though with these 3 you can't lose. Go where the heart leads you!

Off of looks alone I'd go for option 1.
The skeleton is cool but I feel it would be tough to read.

X2 Gorgeous, amazing looking watch. However I got the same feeling when I was looking at the watch as well.

Thanks for all the replies so far guys, I really appreciate it.
I wasn't able to see a skeleton in person yet, and it's really hard for me to buy a watch unseen, I think if I had only one watch, I would get the Skeleton, but it would seem to overlap with wearing my SS daytona, which I wear everyday. Although the ROO case is huge, it is far more subdued, dare I say conservative looking. The subtle areas of high polish, make the watch a quieter piece. I know that sounds crazy, but the more I wear the ROO, the more it has a quiet subtle brilliance to it.... I spent time with the 44mm ROO and feel more comfortable with it, but for some reason, I looked at an eve rose daytona. Before I got my SS daytona, the eve rose daytona was my grail. I ended up getting a Big Pilot, Vintage Portofino Moonphase, and the SS daytona instead. I tried it on again today, and boy it hit my soft spot for pink gold. So the dilemma is get the AP, or finally scratch that itch and get the eve rose Daytona. This pic doesn't show the true color of the daytona, it looks more yellow in this pic. The subtle elements of the eve rose were apparent, the beveling on the bezel, and how the sundials really refract light beautifully. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the 44mm ROO as it was what this purchase objective was about, but giving myself 24 hours to confirm that decision. Thanks again for all your feedback, I'll report back soon.

To be safe, pick # 1 ROO 44mm. It would be easier to sell compare the other 2 if you get bored with it.

If you intend to have one watch from each brand, the ROO should be a nice one given you have other more dressy pieces.

Didn't read that you have a more conservative collection...Then a ROO would be my choice.

You've got to go with your heart.
However based on what you've said you were considering, I would go with the ROO.

Sounds like the ROO would be a great addition to your collection, and one of my favourite SS ROO models

The daytona is like the final devilish temptation slash seducement you face before you "get married" to the ROO, its like pre wedding jitters so to speak.
Keep your faith strong. Get the ROO |
