Poll: Should Roger save up for ........

Sometimes I wonder if the thrill of the hunt or what. I do really think the SS black dial is one sexy watch, but there is a lot to be said about the white dial TT version.

BTW its only a few months more before I can get a SS model at list, the owner of the AD has assured me one for sure in time for my B-day in Feb.

This is what the collection looks like right now, maybe it needs another TT model (but I was reserving that for a TT YM down the road one day after a Daytona, just dont let JJ know that he is partially to blame for this, it might go to his head)

I do Roger. That's why I'm only going to have the ONE good watch for awhile (ok I'm not counting Tam's DJ or her Panerai ) I'm not thinking about the next one. It becomes an obsession, and you are what you think about, as they say (or you get what you think about the most).

I'm just gonna wear the hell outta my Explorer, with the occasional BM wearing thrown in, and enjoy my one watch for a change. Been awhile since I really bonded with a watch and I'm looking forward to it!

Um bond with the boy first then the watch ok? Make sure he keeps his foot out of his month (that was one cute pic)

But I hear ya, if the SS daytona is what I decide I will buy it in Feb or so, if I decide I want the TT then I cant wait a while. My collection has shrunk quite a bit and I'll tell you why. VC dress watch, put it on and worry about it not being able to take bangs and hits like the DJ. Everytime I wore it I thought about my DJ. Seamaster, everytime I wore it I thought about the SD. etc etc So I think I have decided that all others will everntually go once I have the Rolex version out of my system. I like other brands very much, but since I have had a fair comparision of various models with te Rolex equivilant I have decided what I like best.

I am already down from 12 to 8 so a few more sales here and a Daytona buy there I am will be content. The only brands that I have not given a chance is AP, Panerai, and a modern IWC sports watch. After that I can honestly say I have tried all I want to try.

Hey Roger go for it. Remember when you and I were emailing about the GMT? You were agonizing over whether you should get it then. Same advice my friend. Do it now while you're single and you can

My advice, would be to get that one that really smiles at you. If it is the Daytona in either SS or TT then jump. Or diversify your collection and branch out, or do what Bruce said and stand pat for awhile. Boy am I a ton of help or what?

I hear ya brother, I know I am gonna get one of the 2 (tough life when you're single eh ) just cant stop thinking about whether its the thrill of the hunt. Mind you everytime I see someone post a new 116520 Black dial with the fat hands I mess myself the TT always smiles at me at the AD.

I can't vote, Roger. My choice isn't up there. OK, granted my first choice would be the meteorite on a black strap, but other than that I would go for a SS white or MOP dial flavor. I definitely would not go TT. For some reason the only TT's I like are the DJs.

Hey Roger,

Very simple: SS Daytona...ONLY if it's at list price....otherwise TT Daytona.

Anyone who pays a premium on an SS Daytona and winds up paying MORE for an SS than a TT is a bloody idiot IMHO!!

Cheers - JJ

SS Daytona, its a no brainer, if you pay the "fair Price" and decide you dont like it i bet you could almost do a straight swop for a TT

Hi Roger,

Judging from the rest of your collection the SS Daytona would be a very nice addition.

Get the TT Daytona. The SS version gives people a superiority complex.

I had 2 black SS Daytonas and sold them both. It was the thrill of the hunt I think. Would I have bought them if there were plenty available? Probably not. I thought of the TT but frankly I don't like the polished center links and clasp. They are scratch magnets. I don't like the polished bezel, and I have no use for a chronograph. Case closed. I bought an SD and pocketed the difference. I am much happier.
