The postman left me this today, incoming!

Greetings TRF,

How about we all gather in this thread and admire what I found in my mailbox this afternoon?

Now since I understand this is an international forum with people speaking mostly English I decided to make take bilingual pictures!

Yep, those are the good name and address...

Oh yes!

Clearly Postes Canada is the best company when it comes to making things complicated...

That shall be it for now, ladies and gentlemen!

Here it is!

I found this watch while lurking around Ebay and although it does have a more feminine look than my other watches it was described as being a men's model. Given that I like small watches its 26mm x 36mm case was just perfect for me and the gold hour and minute hands, the gold markers as well as the blue'd steel second hand are in quite a good shape (not to mention the dial).

...Still, the thing I prefer on this watch is clearly the etching on the case! I can't help but think that given its age (it was described as being from the 1930's) those may have been handmade, that's what made me want this watch so much.

I don't think it looks too bad on my wrist but I'll definitely have to find another band for it...

Thank you for watching, feel free to comment!

Thank you Adam! The best thing is that the movement runs but it could use a service, I think I'll try to start working on it tomorrow!

Very nice Carl congrats

I love the engravings

Are you going to service the watch yourself?
If so, would you mind taking a few pictures while working on it?

You're becoming quite the vintage collector Carl. I really like the look of this watch with the etching, very unique. A good quality strap will bring out its beauty even more.
Congrats

Thank you Alex, I'm currently on the hunt for a leather band, it's only a matter of time!

Carl, I cannot believe I just saw this... First off, the original post - bloody brilliant mate, had me chuckling like a schoolgirl. And about the contents themselves - that's a cool timepiece, never seen one like that. Enjoy, my friend!

Real Nice Carl, Félicitations !

I have this old one here for a long long time. Tried to do research and couldn't find anything on this brand. Looks like it's solid gold as well. You have much more knowledge on these than I do. I'd like to have it back working as it's from my grandpa, any advice ?

Thank you kindly my friend! From a man who made my laugh out loud a lot of times it's a real compliment!

Thank you for the good words regarding my watch Greg.

Merci Dominic! If you open the watch you should find a hallmark on the inside of the caseback telling you how pure is the gold used in this watch. It looks like the condition of it is quite good but I don't think I can tell you much more about it! If you want it to work again, I'd recommend you to avoid trying to wind it and start by bringing it to a watchmaker! Given that it's a rather simple watch with a simple movement it shouldn't cost you a lot to service it and it would be good for many years!
