The cougar was meant to be a luxury car from day one. It was billed as a luxury performance coupe/convertible.

That is a 1973 Cougar. It is the third generation cougar. It is still based on the same platform as the Mustang. In 1974 the Cougar moved to the same platform as the Elite, and became an underpowered luxobarge.

In 1973 it was still available with a Cleveland based 351 Cobra Jet as the top engine option. The last one to roll of the assembly line was a blue convertible, and marked the end of the muscle car era at Ford. I believe it was also the last Ford convertible to be built for a couple decades.

Highest HP car I've owned was my GTR. 800hp.

Gallardo was a nice car, but no where close in power.
