Rolex GMT 1971

I would like to kindly ask for your help, as im "green" in rolex...

I bought rolex 1675 cal. 1575 from 1971, with detailed documentation, boxes, only bracelet was replaced. Tell me please what is in your opinion about this watch? What do you think on it? There is reviewing documents from the 90's and 2006 bills from the service, the first owner is listed in the chronometer certificate, original. box, and books with black and white photographs

I appears to be a nice a GMT and well documented. It has the correct dial for 1971. The only thing I can see is the bezel insert is a later insert and possibly a couple hands have been replaced with later genuine Rolex hands which is not uncommon on the older watches.

Enjoy the watch and welcome to the forum. Complete sets of the vintage GMT-Masters are getting very hard to find.

Wonderful GMT!
Bracelet is also a later, probably replaced during a service. It's a 78360, period correct would be a 7836 folded.....but that doesn't matter!

Enjoy your new beauty!

Springer,, I always follow accurately your posts,, congratulation for your GMTs knowledge.

Can I ask how you can say this insert it is not correct? Someone said for the age but as far I know the introduction od the black insert should be 1971/72, am I correct?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Very nice, congrats. The dial and hands match perfectly - only the second hand is slightly darker and that is not uncommon.

Rolex GMT 1971

Very crisp. Good find. The only thing that might bother me is the second hand. Otherwise the patina matches on the rest. No biggie. The insert is easily sourced if u r willing to spend.

What's the issue with the second hand?

Beautiful Gmt. That second hand can easily be color matched and match perfectly. That beautiful dial is begging for a faded ff Pepsi insert.

I'd leave it as it is - chances are it's original. Things change and add character.

First, sneer, welcome to TRF and congratulations on your beautiful 1675!!!

They just know the date of its making and that the original bezel has been changed with a black one. Some of those guys are the best GMT experts on here. You don't need to change it, only if you like Pepsi better.

If I am not mistaken, the black bezel was made for the 1675/3 with gold bezel, crown, and two-tone bracelet. This begs another question. Are there any nicknames for the black face, black dial TT 1675? I mean Pepsi, Root Beer, and I think the all gold is the Concorde or something (but is that just the 6542 from 1958-59?)… just curious.

Concorde model had straight hands from what I read, not Mercedes. 1675/8 is my dream watch but finding a brown-dial brown-bezel model in reasonable condition for a reasonable price is challenging, they made far fewer of those than the regular 1675. Even a service-case example goes for big bucks, for me I think ownership may STAY a dream!
