How many watches and watch winders do you have?

I've now got 3 watches and have just ordered a 2nd winder, so that will mean 2 being kept wound and 1 on my wrist. Just curious how you manage your collection of mechanical watches in terms of winders. Comments most welcome

11 mechanical automatic watches. Two quads and a single winder. One watch is always on the wrist. One watch doesn't get wound constantly. All others are on winders to keep them wound.

No winder here, either. No need, really.

Not a fan of winders. Fingers do the same job

5 mechanical watches, no winder.

If I bought a perpetual calendar my thinking might change, but it is easy enough for me to keep my lot wound and in good shape.

11 watches, no winders. I don't really see the need unless I had something like a perpetual calendar, which unfortunately I do not.

About a dozen watches, no winder. No need in my case. I usually wear a piece for 2-3 weeks at a time before rotating so it's no big deal to wind/set one watch once or twice a month. And since I get around to each piece only every few months that would be an awful lot of needless wear on the movements. In fact, because I rotate less frequently than some do most of my pieces are in the safe deposit anyway. Usually only a couple are at home at any given time and one of those is on my wrist.

Even if I had 2-3 and rotated daily I'd probably not use a winder, even though wear wouldn't be as much of a factor with that routine. I'm just not in that big a hurry. On the rare occasion I am in a rush I'll just quickly wind and set the time and run out the door. Somewhere during the morning when I have a moment I'll set the date when I get around to it. And besides, I enjoy the ritual of setting and winding my watches. It's just not a hassle for me.

Currently have 4 watches and 1 winder which can house 2 watches. Only have one automatic watch at the moment so I do have room for a future acquisition. :) I love the winder and honestly think I should have gotten one sooner. I love the convenience of not having to manually wind the watch when I want to wear it.

I have 6 winders and 7 watches; however, 4 are manual wind leaving only 3 automatics.

28? 2, maybe 3 incoming. Yes, it's a disease (and I'm addicted).

I have 12 winding stations (3 x four stations), 9 actually running. I have three perpetuals which really need them. Getting into manual winds more now.

I got a winder box that comprises of 4 winders. I have no idea why I bought it. It's still in the box.

Thanks for your replies. Very interesting. It got me wondering whether I should actually bother with having any winders at all. In fact, whilst I have one I felt inspired to cancel the order I had for a 2nd one: I failed though as the item was already in the process of being dispatched. I could return it, of course.

I'm torn between reducing the wear on the movement whilst I'm not wearing a watch and saving myself the "hassle" of resetting the time, date and 24 hour hand (on my 2 Explorer IIs, at least - it's a piece of cake resetting my Explorer). I suppose it depends on how often I swap them over. Something to ponder. Anyway, thanks again for your replies.

4 watches, 4 spot winder. But I just use my winder as a nice watch case, its never on. Prefer to wind them myself

I currently have 5 watches, 3 of which are autos. I have one winder, but I have no clue where it currently is and haven't used it in around 18 months. I don't switch watches that often, somewhere around once every week-two weeks, so there really is no current need for one.

Thanks for all the replies! Very interesting... All of which resulted in me returning the 2nd watch winder I bought so I'm sticking with 1 winder (which I may not use so much) and 3 mechanical watches.

35 watches. 11 Winder 'Bays'.

For me, keeping non-quickset Rolex 15xx based watches, or other non-quicksets wound while in rotation is a must. I do not want to put excessive wear and tear on Crowns/Tubes or reversing wheels manual winding them, or god forbid setting the day 15 days away.

Modern stuff though, not as critical...

If anything your putting more wear on your watches by keeping them constantly keeping them wound. I have a 1972 manual wind oyster precision I wind daily and have for a few years now without any damage, I think people don't realize how durable thess things really are.
