What a week I'm having!!!

So someone hacked my TRF account (2th Dr) and I'm waiting to hopefully get that account back. But that's not the worst of it.
I wired money to a seller (collectorgary) on the watchnet forums on Friday for a GMT 116713 and the POS scammed me! So now I'm out $7500 as well! Geez what a week!

I feel for you, Mark.

BTW, I like the new user name.

Thanks. Not only did I lose money, but I lost my account here and my patron status, AND my 12k+ posts!

Man that sucks. Hope something can be done and you get your money back or a GMT shows up!
All the best

I filed with the FBIs internet fraud division but not counting on them to do anything anytime soon. I also contacted my bank as soon as I realized I had been dupped and they are working to get the money back. I think it helps that the money was wired from one Chase account to another Chase account.

Hopefully this will be a key point.

If the scam account had been electronically emptied it may still be possible to claw the funds back.

If they allowed someone to turn up and take out $7500 in cash then :

1. They're supposed to red flag such type of activity.
2. There'll be CCTV images of the scum.

Just make sure you get the name of a "mover and shaker" in the fraud dept and be ultra thankful to them in advance. It kinda gives the additional motive to the right type of person.

As far as getting the TRF username back, just work with Steve (Lol-x) and I'm sure this will be a formality.

Mark, That's awful. I wish you the best in getting your money back. I really hope that a-hole pays for what he did.

May I ask how your account was hacked? Did you click on a link, as I have been reading a lot about lately, or did somebody just target your account specifically.
I just want to know what kind of scams I should be aware of.

Thanks and Chin Up

Terrible, sorry about your TRF account as well.

How does a TRF account get hacked?

People send PMs or emails asking for your login details, apparently. Been a few posts about it recently. Seems to be aimed at people selling stuff. Don't know if that was the case here, though.

Not looking good. Chase says they are working on it, which basically means they have contacted the "beneficiary" and "requested" the money be returned. If/when the FBI gets around to it, it could be months, or never. I'm sick to my stomach.

Welp, looks like I'm screwed. Chase just sent me a message that the request to return the funds has been refused.

Sorry but I don't undertand buying a watch off the internet, except perhaps a $99 Casio. Handing over this kind of money and then waiting for the goods is asking for trouble. I know plenty of people do it but I don't get it.

I sincerely hope that it will work out fine for you Mark. It is really sad if you get robbed like this. Nobody should experience this. Thanks for warning all of us

you most certainly can buy off the internet from sites like trf, from reputable sellers with great confidence.

Shoot that is so tough mark.

I think the best thing to do now is try your best to get a hold of a nice Police investigator where the scammer lives and file a report and try and get them to put pressure on the scammer to return the funds.

you seem to be missing the point, dealing with reputable dealers on trf is somewhat different than dealing with an unknown hack on an unknown site with 11 posts, who's registered in the same month he put up items for sale.
