Icon12 Send my SD to the sea bottom?

I work offshore in the North Sea. We have an ROV (remote operated vehicle) onboard. I've been toying with the idea of strapping my Sea Dweller to the ROV and have them take it on a dive to the sea bed. They video everything so I can get a screen shot of my watch which would show the current depth in feet.

Always thought this would be great to do. When I retire I would have a interesting picture for my office wall....and add a bit of history to my watch in the process.
So am I the only one who thinks this would be great?
I think I'll do it..........any thoughts?

FYI: There would be no chance of losing my watch...and it would be more than capable of dealing with the depth...so minimal risk.

Absolutely! It's an opportunity few of us get to put a watch through what it was made for.

What an OUTSTANDING idea! But as quoted:

Getting it checked before you do so would be very smart IMHO, I remember seeing a post of someone who jumped into a pool with his new Submariner, and it flooded! He took it back to the AD and it was a warranty issue. Not sure what became of it, I just remember seeing the pic of the watch half full of water on the inside of the dial. :)

If you could document this step by step...that would be wonderful for all to see!

Tremendous idea given your situation!!!!

Depending on where we are, its generally 400 to about 550 ft deep where we work in North Sea.
Although I've been in 2700 ft west of the Shetland Islands, and 5000 ft off of the Ivory Coast.

I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't want to do it. Let's get that helium valve some good honest use!

The helium valve won't do much on a robot arm!

If the watch is in the water strapped to the outside of the vehicle, no helium is going to get into the case.

This is a very cool opportunity! Now, if you were using my watch for this I'd like a little more detail on the "no chance of losing it" claim.

If you haven't had the watch serviced recently, it might be best to have it pressure tested fist.

Then do it and post pics!

Yes... can't wait. I'd try to maybe "charge" up the lume if it's not a bright day pre-dive.

Funny you should mention this; I was just thinking the exact same thing!
I'll plan to do this next trip, in February, as my SD is at home right now as I'm currently wearing my GMT.

Awesome idea, what a cool story you would have to tell wearing that watch many years from now.
