Icon5 DSSD vs YM2

As i always do in this forum i keep things short and to the point if you had the option of buying a deep sea blue dial or a yacht master 2 in steel which one would you choose any why? (I already own a ceramic sub no date)

I recently traded my black dial DSSD toward a SS YM II.

I really love both watches but would give the edge to the YM II. The price differential between the D-Blue DSSD and the black dial DSSD is just too big to justify IMO. When the D-Blues come down in price I might consider it.

Hey Tom, I'm surprised to hear you say that you'd give the DSSD the nod. You mentioned the YM II was your daily wearer for two years.

I'd go with the YM II- clean, great color scheme and I find the DSSD too bulky and too much bezel. I love heft...bulk not so much. If they had watches made of osmium, I'd be into it.

well when I give an answer it really isn't what I would do as much as what I think would be the best answer for the OP asking. the DSSD is more of a "standard" (kinda sub) type look and the YMII is really a different look. also much more polished parts, also says YACHTMASTER II pretty big on it if you don't own a yacht
then with the Deep Blue version, makes it even cooler, no right answers both awesome watches

Isn't the YMII heavier than the DSSD in certain PM's?

DSSD - Under the radar 99% of the time.

YMII - Fully Radar traceable 99% of the time.

Both awesome watches and would like to own a YMII someday myself.

Unless you are a monster of a person, any watch the size of a DSSD will not fly under the radar. The YMII at least doesn't look like the typical Rolex.

YMII gets my vote.

I should have elaborated...In my case, 6'4" - 275lb...yes, a bit of a "monster", so I need a large watch with 8"+ wrists. So, I agree with this statement, but both are large by comparison....the YMII is much more in terms of "flash" by comparison and garners more attention IMHO.

I am 6'2 and the regular sub looks a bit small but both the YM2 and the DSSD are 44mm

If you want something distinctive, the YM2. The DSSD is, to most people, just a Sub on steroids.

I voted YMII, I also have a subC and like that it is more distinct. Also, would be nice to have a white faced watch.

Thanks for the replies, i actually have to try both of them because i only tried the YM2 in white gold and DSSD with a black dial. Cant make up my mind yet and its a bit early for a watch picked up my previous watch less than a month ago. Need to try a blue dial DSSD and a steel YM2 first and compare.

The YM2 is better balanced, plus you have a Diver already.

D blue for sure. I love date function and would never use timer function of ymII. Not to mention I like the looks, clasp, no pcls, and engineering of dssd.

Just bought a SS Yachtmaster 2 and it is beautiful. The SS Deepsea did nothing for me.

A blue YM2 has been sat in my local AD's window for weeks now but the DSSD D blue has a fairly long waiting list.

D-blue gets my vote, the YM2 doesn't do anything for me.
