BMW M2 - Anyone got an incoming?

This looks amazing -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=771zMCChtGM

Only about 400 coming to the UK and pretty much sold out. 1 or 2 for each dealer per year and the top ///M dealers are getting 2 or 3.

I assume the USA will be getting more than this but still very limited, anyone here indulging?

I've been lucky and just secured one for September delivery (when the change of reg plate happens here). Going for DCT, Long Beach Blue with pretty much all the options apart from sunroof.

I think this is shaping up to be the best M car in years

This is much closer to the spirit of the M3 than the current M3/M4 lineup. I love the flared fenders. Unfortunately, its not yet available in the US to order.

This would be so much fun to toss around.

I initially thought that and was expecting about 400 but BMW clearly aren't just playing the BHP game here, the whole package is more important.....hopefully. 370 BHP is still good for a 1500KG car imo and it does 0-60 in 4.2. The new Focus RS is down on BHP to the RS3 and A45 but destroys them both overall.

To an extent I agree, but this is an M car. In my mind this is suppose to be their performance machine that showcases the best of the particular range.

0-60 in 4.2 to me, is not good.

My following statement will get me flamed here by everyone except Porsche owners, but here goes......

My 997.2 S 0-60 3.1 seconds.

Yes, the car is more money but it just doesn't seem like BMW wants to attract new customers that may be looking across various brands.

However, it is a nice car but I was expecting more. Like you said a 400 BHP would have been pretty decent. Big picture, even an AWD would have been a nice add.

I am sure every single car will be sold out regardless and that will occur very quickly.

TBH I am more a Porsche man than BMW. Gutted I didn't get a GT4. Still though, the M2 is absolutely the best of the 1/2 range and probably better than the M3/M4 too.

Your 997 gen 2 Carrera S 3.8 does 0-60 in 3.1? Sorry I'm not looking to flame or argue but really? I've never seen a test of review that puts it at less than 4 sec. Do you have a reference for that 3.1?

As for AWD though......no, no, no, just no

Not on the m cars lately everyone wants the carbon fiber. Myself I prefer a sunroof.

He's got a turbo s most likely.

I would bet the m2 is pushing about 400 in real life. AWD is a big no no with m cars but I honestly believe my f80 would be better served by awd. It has too much power and you constantly have to manage the throttle. Maybe wider rear tires would help but I'm not sure.

Bmw under rates their cars in terms of HP. Should be plenty quick.

I have an m3 but I think I'm getting rid of it. Good car just never sang to me lol

Not in Europe they don't. Sunroof adds weight and is seen as a no thanks option.

The E92 M3 with a sun roof is a resale nightmare. Buyers want a carbon fiber roof

I own the last generation M3. While I do enjoy the V8 and sound I have been looking at what's next. The M2 is on my list.

Whilst I could never afford one of these in Australia, I think it is about 100% as a sporty GT Coupe. Great looks, compact, and the right amount of power for a vehicle this size and weight (Manual gearbox please).
3 secs, 4 secs, 5 secs, seriously that stuff is only about bragging rights. It's fast enough to fit the bill.
It is very true to the earlier iteration.

Don't get me wrong, still a good car!!! Guess I was thinking it would be 400ish that's all. I am starting to see a few posts about the car on social media and it is sparking positive interest.

I think with 400 it would be quicker than the M4 so they couldn't really have that!

Love the 1M, I would keep that if I were you, it's only going up in value.

GT4 is currently trading at about 200% of list price in UK, so gutted I didn't get one.

I have a few friends with GT4s either here already or inbound. Great car, although in the US they won't be selling for ton over list. I have been offered ones at list. GT3RS, same story, asking big money up front, but the ones that actually sell are at a premium, but not the $100K premiums we hear about.

Have owned a few Ms in the past, excellent overall package cars. The M2 will feel great I'm sure. Turbo S is in a different league, as I've owned Porsches as well. I get what you mean about speed, my last turbo made 700bhp with a EVOMS GT700 package. My GTR made 800hp which a friend purchased and now it makes over 1200hp.

Straight line it was a beast, but the Ms I still very much appreciate them for what they are (similar to the Rolexes). They are great at what they are made to do at their price point.

Wow!!! That is incredible!!! 700bhp is very serious!!

The M series have always been interesting and fun to drive. And yes, that was an unfair comparison on my part. It just seems that BMW is not going into the HP/Spec war that the other brands are doing.

Still a great car though.

The GTR 1200 Hp wow!! Crazy!!!!

Haha ... All good Mike!

I have an M235 and it is a blast. I can only imagine the M2 will be fantastic.

Disappointed though that it is the same N55 engine instead of the S55 on the M3, so not really a proper M engine.

Still, it should be sweet and I love the more aggressive aesthetics. Price is great as well and the standard is pretty much fully loaded ... I wonder what sort of dealer fees / overcharges will be added.

Not an M but a 2016 228i with the M sport package. After three months I think it's the perfect car.

This whole thread is nuts.

First off, beautiful car you are getting. Big congrats.

I've never been the kind of guy that got too into the details. Fast is fast, and I'm not going to breaking the sound barrier anytime soon

I took my 2015 Mustang 5.0 GT out today for the first time in months. 425hp 0-60 in 4.4 I think. But truth is, I'll never ever even come close to that.

It's slow like a turtle compared to what you guys are all referencing, but feels fast as heck to me.

Enjoy the M2. It's a really good looking car.
