I noticed that the newer Rolex models have the Rolex name circling around the metal ring within the watch. However the Submariner SS + gold does not. Does anyone know if this watch will be altered to reflect this new "decoration" like it's twin, the SS + gold GMT II?

My SS Submariner Date 16610 is M Serial, and I bought it in April, 2008 and it has the Rolex name circling around the metal ring within the watch.
Thanks, Ahmed |

Hi everyone, am a total newbie to Rolex and was just wondering if this feature was available only on models with precious metal bracelets and/or jewelled dials? The new Datejust in stainless steel I was looking at (116234) doesn't have this.

Bizzare, but who knows. . .
I have a brand new "M" DJ 116234 and it does have "ROLEX" engraved 360 degrees around the inner bezel, however, it did have a "116200" sticker on the back which is totally wrong. Perhaps the kids at Rolex are drinking absinthe at lunch?

I personally hate it... reasons? I think it 'cheapens' the brand - Rolex should be timeless, elegant and the brand 'Rolex' says enough it doesn'tt have to compete against other brands that purely trade off enlarged faces and too much 'jewellery'...... but maybe I am just old fashioned!!

All Rolex Oyster cases will get the rolexrolexrolex on the rehaut. It started around the Z series but the exact point it started on each model is unknown.
Where Rolex had a stock pile of cases for a particular model without the rolexrolexrolex, those cases would have been used up first by Rolex before it started on using and releasing the rolexrolexrolex cases for a given model. The model hasn't changed, only the addition of the rolexrolexrolex. The watches should in all other respects are exactly the same.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I thought the particular watch the dealer showed me was a newer one because its Jubilee bracelet featured the Crownclasp. But then again, I guess it's possible to put a newer bracelet on an older case?

Serial and perhaps the model number on the rehaut ,but the RolexRolexRolex no, just once on the dial is good enough for me.

Most definitely should NOT be on the regular line- however, sports models look decent with the rehaut print. I picked up an M sub with it. The AD had two of the same TT DJ configurations (same series) and I opted for the one without the silly ring. As other have said, there is no place on these watches for brand whoring.
Its like the DS- the gas escapement ring is ridiculous. Not sure if there are any quartz guys here.. but anyone think about, or have the Sinn UX? Amazing piece aside from movement. |

My late M series SD does not have the rolex inscriptions on the rehaut. wonder why since it is a recent production. I think 2008? Anyone seen a SD with the insciption on the rehaut?

Maybe it's because I have 51 year old eyes, but I bearly notice it on my GMTIIC. I really have to make an effort to see it. So, in my opinion, it has nominal visual effect on the asthetics of the watch. However, I do think that the additional detail is nice. Just adds another element to the intricacy of the watch. So I vote that it is a positive addition to the watch.

I also hate it and only sought out this thread trying to find out if it's standard now. I wish they'd make it optional.

Sorry, it's too busy for me, actually all the writing on the dial is too busy, if I could have afforded one of the earlier models sans certification I would have bought one. But as it is, my 1997 1/2 will have to do.
