Black Daytona C vs White Gold Daytona C

Hi everyone, i want to ask your opinions. I have black daytona ceramic (116500ln) and thinking to trade with white gold daytona silver dial with oysterflex (116519ln). What do you think?

My current collection : white + black daytona 116500ln, rg daytona 116515ln, hulk, pepsi, batman, sd4k, deepsea blue, vintage datejust.

I have been debating both watches. If I could get the SS black Daytona and the Oysterflex from an AD at MSRP, I would go that way. I love the Oysterflex. Check this post. Maybe it will help you.

I was in the exact same boat last year. tough call but I held tight. I got myself a Rubber B for my black Daytona C and it looks great. I haven't taken it off since. Also nice to know I have the bracelet to go back to if I want.

The part I couldn't get over was that it was so much more $$$ & that it had a rubber bracelet. I get the WG thing but to me it seemed just a tad too high.

The dial on the WG however is outstanding & so i'm still conflicted! I still feel tempted at times.

Overall I think the black dial is much more versatile for different straps, bracelets, etc if you wanted to change it up.

Hope this helps some.

I’d keep the SS Daytona C but I’m biased because I have one.
Seriously, I love the oyster flex but if I purchase a watch in that price range, I want a bracelet with it too, not just the oyster flex.

Will not work. Doesn't fit.

I own the SS Daytona-C black and the WG Daytona OF. Very different feel, but both beautiful. If money was a consideration, I'd keep only the SS version, but if not, I'd definitely opt for the 116519. The dial and ceramic bezel combo is mesmerizing and stunning, and then there's the feel/weight/idea of white gold. Very special watch, and best-looking combo of any modern Daytona, IMHO.

If someone owns both, and is a little nutty like many of us, what you could do is swap the dials if you want the bracelet look with the WG dial. That would be the only way to really get this look. (Borrowed photo from a fellow on IG who sourced a loose WG dial and swapped it with an SS version.)

That silver dial, bracelet combo looks sublime! Never seen that rendered, but was what i was hoping would be on the Rolex new watch list in WG. But ended up pulling the trigger on the 116519 and very happy.

Go for the WG Oysterflex Daytona, you won't regret it. IMHO its the best looking Daytona of all.

I like the white dial ceramic over the WG but only at retail.

Can anyone explain how difficult it is to put on an oysterflex straps. I’ve been thinking about doing it for a long time but heard too many people have gotten the lugs scratched (mainly from ADs). I’ve never removed a bracelet before so I’m a bit hesitant. Thanks.
Also, I have to say the WG steel dial with SS Daytona is a great combination.

I've done it several times, and you need to be super careful and use electrical tape to protect the lugs. If you have watch OCD about scratches, it's challenging. Plus you need the right tools. Yes, AD watchmakers can scratch your watch doing it, but for the most part, they know what they're doing.

If you've never done it, I wouldn't recommend making a Daytona your first attempt.

Thanks. I think I’ll save my money and let mine Daytona be as it is. The oysterflex straps are expensive to begin with anyway.

Why wear a heavier watch that looks the same as stainless steel , and pay more to do it?

Because it’s gold. And gold = baller status.

While it is an incredibly beautiful watch, no one but you will know it's gold so say goodbye to the baller status, + baller status can also mean gaudy status. Depends on the personal style you're after. I feel SS provides more class while also being cheaper at msrp.

The increased weight + rubber band is also a no go for me.

Not entirely true. Anybody who's into watches will know that only PM Rolexes come on the OF. Also, Rolex white gold, which is not the same as regular white gold, has a different luster to stainless steel. It's subtle, but side by side the white gold definitely has a different feel. It's that under-the-radar specialness of white gold that's a big part of the appeal.

I love the SS Daytona-C black dial, but the white gold 116519 is next level.

Buy an oysterflex for your daytonaC and you’re good to go. Two watches in one

I on the other hand don't think that contemporary sports rolex look right on anything but a bracelet. Sorry.

Never been a fan of rubber straps.

Although the oysterflex is a step up from anything RubberB or Everest offers, I still prefer Rolex steel bracelets YMMV

I like the Oysterflex, it looks complete, but the other rubber straps look cheap and unfinished. I think it's because the aftermarket rubbers are missing that piece between the lugs.

Sure, I'd do it...I mean you already have both the black AND white faced SS Daytona's. Great collection by the way.
