Three incomings... including one very special addition
We had been expecting a newborn this month... and my wife had to go through a lot for her pregnancy so I wanted to show her my appreciation and buy her first Rolex (in fact the first for both of us). It would be a 31mm datejust, but she wasn't sure about the configuration.
We went out to check them out at at a couple of ADs. The first one had a good number of different configurations... eventually she settled on the 278273-0015 as she really liked the olive green dial... and for whatever reason she didn't like the jubilee. At the same time, I asked the SA the possibility of getting a steel sub this year... Understandably, she couldn't guarantee any timeline. (FYI I had one purchase history with them for BB58). We left the store heading to other AD as my wife wanted to check out other models as well before deciding and I also wanted to see if the other store could offer me a more clear timeline for my sub. At the other AD... they basically had empty display cases lol. Only very few small datejusts and celinis. So she really didn't find any model she liked better. So we inquired the SA about getting our preferred datejust model and sub this year. She told us that that specific datejust model is very popular and while she can order it, it would be 1-2 year wait! Crazy times... but she kinda hinted that she could get me a sub (black, either date or no date) in a few weeks time frame. So we left our contact info and left... I didn't have any expectation but we had a pretty good rapport as she herself was a mother of young kids. So to our first incoming... after learning that the 278273-0015 was rare to find these days... we called the first AD and told the SA that we would like to buy the watch. And the next day we picked it up! This was about a month before our baby's due date. Then the big day came!! Our baby girl was born just last week, with both the baby and mom healthy. Obviously words can't describe our feelings. And sorry no pictures for our family lol. After about 3 days in the hospital, we came back home. Then the very next day, I receive an unexpected call from the second AD. She tells me that she doesn't have the sub you asked... but she has something more exquisite... it was the 12661LV!! Right away I go pick up the watch with my wife's permission and it has joined our small Rolex collection. I feel very fortunate to get this watch this quickly and appreciative for the SA who thought of us. She said her heart told me to give the watch to us as it would make the watch even memorable... Thank you! 20210724_204030.jpg 20210724_203635.jpg |

Big big big congrats for healthy baby girl, wife's DateJust and your Sub LV!
Love to hear good news like this, it shows that regular people still have the hope to get SS sport model at ADs without being a VIP.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, the watches are pretty good too but don’t compare to the fun you’re going to have as a family.
All the best

Congrats. I went through something similar a year back. My wife too had a rough pregnancy and so I wanted to get her something nice. Got her a blue dial 126234 and my AD was nice enough to get me a 116610LN with it. She is very happy with it.
But looking at your watch, maybe I should have asked for a TT Lady DJ with diamonds, then I mightve gotten an LV too |
