Color My World.......

Some of you know I suffer from colorblindness, severe red/green Protan. In my early years it was not a big deal. As I got older, the more it has impacted my life.

Working in airports I could never tell if the security doors where flashing yellow, green, or red, which caused a few visits by local airport authorities. As a working musician for over 35 years, I couldn't tell if the flashing traffic light was yellow or red when driving home. Never seen a green light, they look white to me.

Come Monday my Enchroma colorblind correcting glasses arrive. There's a 75% chance these glass will help me see all the shades & [remaining] colors I've been missing my entire life. I'm sure you've seen the videos where people have come to tears when experiencing the full color spectrum for the 1st time. For some, there's no improvement whatsoever. Fingers crossed these will let me see what most others take for granted.

Thanks, Seth!

These corrective glasses were invented by accident. A scientist was working on glasses to protect doctors during laser surgery. An employee asked to use the glasses outside during a Frisbee game and was shocked to see orange traffic cones for the 1st time in his life. Another decade of development ensued to fine tune the science.

That’s incredible. Like penicillin.

Amazing how effort breeds results. Just sometimes not the exact results you are looking for.

Good luck Dan!

It must be an interesting experience seeing certain colors for the first time for those that do.

I have a sea foam green bass, which looks dove gray to me. My drummer [at the time] said I must be awful confident in my masculinity. I asked why. He said because your bass is the same color as my wife's underwear. I said, come to think of it, it IS the same color as your wife's underwear!

Thanks, gents!

Really appreciate all the encouragement!!

Just one more day till I see a whole new world [maybe]. Again, I'm girding myself about getting too excited knowing there a chance this won't work.

But today and most of next week full sunshine is predicted, which I'm hoping is a good sign.

Now, what what to wear during the unveiling......

Congrats on the incoming of them. We have a family friend my wife and I helped buy some for and it really effected him being able to see the colors. It meant a lot to us that it was such a life changing thing for him.

I'm hoping it works for me as well.

I just want to see what everyone else sees, even if it's a one time opportunity. I also wish everyone could see what I see. Then they would realize why I pick out so many pink shirts!

We who see colors take a lot for granted and probably have a hard time realizing what a problem color blindness can create.

Now I can only wish you will enjoy all the great colors Tudor present.

Wow thanks, everybody! Really appreciate the well wishes.

I'm pretty stoked but cautiously optimistic as well. Enchroma instructs you to wear the glasses in full bright sunshine for at least 30 minutes. They even include a colorful assortment of balloons. Then wear them up to 10 hours over the next 2 weeks. The brain needs to acclimate & reprogram.

Some people are speechless the instant they put them on, others need time to get the full effect. Some [about 25%] never see any positive effect at all, other than everything looks brighter. I already have polarized sunglasses for that.

They have a great return policy and give you 60 days to test them out.

So I'll either be shocked and amazed at what I'll finally be able to see or I'll continue to wear 2 different color socks the rest of my life.
