Turned Down Code 11.59

Morning All!

I got offered a Code 11.59 from the boutique I had been working with. I was initially excited but then the more I looked at it, I couldn't justify the price for something I wasn't sure about anymore. I think the guy understood but now it sucks knowing I'll probably never get the call for anything else that I had shown interest in.

I don't understand why so many people think it is impossible to get the pieces they want. Sure it's not as easy as walking in a boutique and walking out with the piece, but with a bit of effort it should be done.

There are so many details at play to just throw in the towel and declare all hope lost for ever getting another call. What else is it that you showed interest for? Had you registered interest for this particular Code? Was this the first time you handled it in person when presented the opportunity to buy it? Be transparent, find a SA and boutique that is transparent with you, be patient, and you will get the pieces you want from the brand.

If you ask the code to the SA for your interest than that be a problem, if they just offered you without you request it than you can tell them why you dont want it.. but tbh code is really good watch there are lot of nice details on that watch

Don't worry about it. lots of ways to get back on the gravy train later. Wait until there is a Code that you like enough. I hear they are doing some redesigns on font next year anyways and as a lot of the skeleton designs show, the general perception is case is great, but still in search for the right top.

Not everyone was born or grows up to be a whale. The rest of us krill have to settle for leftovers.

Yeah, I asked for it. Everything I had seen, I loved it, but once I saw it in person, I was "meh" on it.

Not ideal - I think in the longer term you'll be fine bylut I'm sure you'll move down the queue... Maybe like going from Plat to Silver in airline terms.

If you've asked for it and turned it down it makes it a bit harder to then say no... Esp if the SA potentially had you on his radar. Best to go and try on to be sure before adding stuff to the list

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Definitely a cringe moment for me haha.

I would have loved to try it on but the closest boutique is in Dallas and have been terrible to deal with.

Be straight with your SA. If you’ve BSed your way so far they’ll now know. If you’ve been honest and straight forward so far then they’ll know that too, and thus declining something wont hurt you at all.

Interesting on the font update. That was my main dislike, otherwise it has a lot of cool details. Tried on the burgundy, was tempted but with limited budget there's too much competition.

Agreed that it's best to try on a piece before requesting it. However, if your SA knows that you had never seen it in the metal when requesting it, then it is understandable to be a bit disappointed upon seeing it in person. In this case as long as you communicate clearly your sentiments with your SA, I think you should get a pass and still be considered for a future piece.

Cool piece. What don't you like about it? And did you then put in a request for something else? Have you tried on any other pieces while in the store?

Does that mean with ceramic mid case or just black dial?

Also, I assume reading location you are talking about the MG joint venture boutique in your area?

Honestly, you did the right thing. It’s a nice watch but Unless you love the Code, or you’re getting the Perpetual calendar, you’re gonna lose at least 15K-$20K immediately after you walk out the door.

But then you can say when you buy a RO you walk out the door and up 10$ currently....

Even the perpetual calendar loses 25-30% out the door now. It’s a 100k watch. I have seen 3 trusted dealers price a used model in the 70s. Eric Wind, EWC and a guy on Moda.

I turned down a code at the beginning of this year and haven’t heard from my SA since.

I’ve stopped in the store and texted a few times since. But it’s clear I won’t be getting anything I’m interested in now.

I was in a similar boat and would suggest reaching out to the manager and explain the situation and maybe asked to try another SA. It was a good move for me.

Good! If people stop eating the garbage 11:59s it will force AP to make them better. Clearly the tides are turning in the industry, if they don't want to sell you what you want there are plenty of other amazing watches out there.

This is the unfortunate reality of the watch game now. Overspend 50k+ on something no one wants to get what you want? The tides are shifting. Be patient

Did you literally just copy and paste my post from above and just change a few words? I just looked at your profile and you joined the forum 2 weeks ago and your first post is a "FS Hulk" ad, and then you follow that with several posts where you copy and past members comments as your own.

What's the deal dude??

Probably a scammer trying to up their post count before listing a fake piece

Best to warn the mods about them
