Pepsi popularity to in-the-wild sightings is totally out of whack

Obviously the Pepsi is popular, just judging by secondary market prices. But I have not seen a single ceramic Pepsi in the wild yet. I've seen Daytonas and plenty of BLNRs, but not a single BLRO, ever.

To add, another thing I've noticed is in those watch-spotting events that outlets like Hodinkee like to photograph and publish, I so rarely see a Pepsi. Hodinkee just published a story and photos from their most recent meet-up event, and there is not a single Pepsi to be seen there. And this is something I've noticed quite frequently.

Anyone noticed the same? Any explanations?

Actually pretty funny, I've seen a few at my local grocery store, but none were ceramic.

I just attended a training at work and a guy from another office was wearing one.

But yeah, I’ve seen a dozen Daytonas to one Pepsi.

I’ve only seen one Pepsi in the wild and it was at Barrett Jackson car auction in Scottsdale. Have seen plenty of Datejust, Subs, and Day Dates though.

Never seen a Pepsi in the wild, either. I typically only see Subs (SS, TT), the occasional Exp2, and DJs.

Interesting question - same here.
I think my sighting ratios are something like

For every 10 subs
I see 5 BLNRs
And 3 daytonas
And 1 pepsi

Did you have a particular ‘Pepsi’ model in mind as there seems to be quite a few of them since the original one was produced?

Over the past 5 years I've seen two in the wild:
16710 in Palm Springs in 2018
126710 in Las Vegas in 2023
On both occasions I was wearing my 126710 and conversed with the other owners about Rolex and life. The owner of the 16710 was an older gentleman in his 60s. The owner of the 126710 was my age: early 50s. Only two I've ever seen in the wild.

Admittedly, I don't try to spot watches. But I've only seen a Hulk, Bluesy, and Black sub in the wild.

Seen subs, Daytona (ceramic, steel bezel), yacht, and GMT (black bezel) in the wild in HK.

Never BLNR or BLOR yet

We all go for the subs first

Then we go to the Daytona

Gmt is usually a 3rd watch

We all don't. But I know what you mean.

I always preferred the GMT to a Sub. Probably because every 2nd hand car dealer I know used to wear a Sub.

interesting question. I am not entirely sure but I think have seen BLRO only once a while back (the gentleman was a little further away so I am not sure).

I have seen BLNRs and daytonas (116520).

Here’s a possible answer for you. I have one and don’t like to wear it in the public.

That’s pretty sad. I wear mine in rotation with my other pieces and always enjoy wearing mine.

Do you feel unsafe wearing it?

Love to know why.

Is it because it attracts too much attention (it’s quite shiny), or are you trying to avoid wear’n’tear?

Saw one at Mcdonald's on Sanibel Island. We had a great brief conversation while filling our drinks.

I've noticed this as well. I have seen modern BLROs in the wild but it's very rare. I think the modern SS Daytona is rarer though.

See plenty of BLNRs
