I got a new battery installed (free of charge as it was the first time) in my SBGT235 at my local Seiko Service Centre three years ago today, along with a 10 bar pressure test. Still going strong today, not even yet showing the low-battery two-second-tick alert. Will update here when that happens.
Incidentally, over the last three years this watch has gained less than 6 seconds in total.

My SBGN007 conked out 3 years (to the month) from the production date imbedded in the serial number.

That's good. The original battery in mine died a few weeks before its due-date according to the July 2017 serial number, assuming it was installed the same month that the case was made. So I'm glad that this one has lasted the full three years...and counting.

Thanks Eddie. It was an impulse AD purchase in Hiroshima in early 2018 but I've happily worn it most days since

I think they put it on the quartz timer and tweaked the movement adjuster screw during the last battery change, as it was gaining closer to the standard 10 secs per year before that. My other 9F is doing much better than 10 also, after a new SSC battery last year.

Such a great watch, looks like a reliable every day piece. I just picked up my first GS about two months ago; it was an automatic mechanical, but their quartz watches seem to be a cut above anyone else. enjoy it, like seeing how far you can get on a tank of gas!!

Thanks, fortunately I also have a back-up. A slightly older model with the previous dial and almost as accurate (around +5 secs/year)

2 seconds a year! Unacceptable! Send that in for warranty repair!

Remarkable accuracy, Adam! This is a cool thread / experiment. Hopefully yours will continue to run on that same battery for much longer.

Thanks Rommel, I will update as soon as I see the low-battery tick start to work!

Gorgeous! I bought a SBGX263 from Seiya in March of 2020, and it’s still going strong at about +3sec per year. No battery change yet, but I keep expecting to see the EOL indication any day!

For the record: still going after 3 years + 1 month.

Are you sure it's not an automatic movement Adam?

Pretty sure. I just checked and it's only gained about 1 sec so far this year

I wear it most days, and more than any of my other watches. It's always ready to go, of course, but it's also very comfortable on the wrist and dresses up or down, too. The day/date function is useful for me as well, and I take it travelling as following the days of the week when jet-lagged in a distant land is not always easy, and I don't much care what time it is back home so its more useful to me than a GMT.
