Nautilus or Platinum Day Date?
I was at a venue in NY last night where I saw more Natiluses of various kinds than I have ever seen in my life. From millennials to older folks like me (Gen X). I was amazed and while I saw people wearing vintage Daytonas, some other Rolexes I didn’t see many Day Dates. I was fairly certain I was the only one wearing a Platinum Day Date in the entire place. It got me wondering which is the nicer to wear…I have been wearing my Day Date almost exclusively while my Nautilises have been at home. Which would you rather wear? A Nautilus or a Day Date?

Always found the Nautilus/Aquanaut models unattractive.
Your 228206 is the clear choice for me. I have that model and love it. |

The Platinum Day Date any day of the week over a steel nautilus. No comparison. If Instagram didn’t exist, no one would give two shits about the nautilus, just like 2013 and earlier when no one even knew what it was before IG existed.
Social media has destroyed the watch community. |

I have been trying to buy 2 more for the last few years but I refuse to pay above as they are not those kind of watches to me. No luck with my AD’s but was able to trade for my DD 40 NIB back in Oct. |

Methinks you might get a different response on the Patek sub-forum.

I didn’t realize Gen X would be considered older.

I would LOVE a 5712, but I wouldn’t give up a Pt DD for it.

Well, tough one because those are some of the finest watches made regardless of hype. Such different aesthetics that I would think they would all have a place in your collection (and congrats for having them). If just one for life? Rolex.

Im not much of a fan of the nautilus. Feels a little plain to me compared to day dates.

Tough call.
The PT DD will wear like a tank compared to the Nauts. That would either be a good thing or a bad thing depending who you are. |

If the DD had the fluted bezel, it would be a no brainer. I’d go with that. But since it doesn’t, I’d go with the blue nautilus.

Wow, what a great problem to have. Out of the three, the white PP would be nice. I adore Day-Dates, but I abhor the 40mm.

I’d wear a day date on my left wrist and a nautilus on my right. With the other nautilus on my ankle

Day Date and it's not even close. I've never been impressed with the nautilus, at least, not the stainless steel model. First time I held one in my hand I thought, "THAT is what people pay all this money for???" The ONLY Nautilus I'd ever consider chasing after would be the rose gold one with the brown dial, the rest are all crap to me.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I find the dial of the 26 mesmerizing...I could get lost in there.

I understand the nautilus is a status symbol but my god that is a horrible looking watch.
Go for the DD. |
