Will we ever get an adjustable Day-Date bracelet?
The biggest pet peeve I always hear people talk about when discussing the DD40 or other DD references is the lack of glidelock or any sort of adjustment to make on the clasp. I've seen people say adding a link or removing a link didn't get it right so they had to get half links as well in order to get the perfect fit. How come Rolex hasn't made the bracelet adjustable somehow by now? Do you think that's forthcoming or is there some reason it can't happen?

probably because you need a butterfly clasp to make it adjustable and hidden and that's a pretty drastic change to rolex clasps

My DD 40 just always fits right
I hope they do not change to a butterfly as it just wont be as comfortable

This would be a nice feature.
But otherwise, the worst case scenario is adding a link every summer and removing in the winter. It’s about a 5 min task max. This can be done at home with a steady hand and the proper Bergeon screwdriver set ($200). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think @kilyung saw a patent or pending patent on this, but it was years ago ….
It’s probably the only reason I don’t own a DD |

I think it is probably the reason you always see the DD being worn slightly loose. To me that is part of the aesthetic of a DD, but I was a kid in the 80s so that looks "correct" to me for the mighty DD

Honestly as much as I hate to admit it as I own two - it’s an issue. I love and wear them and they are probably my favourite watches to look at but if it’s not 100 per right In fit, which as mentioned above, is difficult due to weather conditions changing, air con, etc etc, it’s uncomfortable. For me at least.

Find a strap and problem solved.
But I agree Rolex has fallen way behind on customer comfort in its classic top-shelf executive model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

This is why I’ll never bother with a DD. Hard to imagine after having glidelock

A strap?? That president bracelet is a big component in the charm behind the Day Date. And frankly, I'm not plopping down $40K+ to just take off the precious metal bracelet and put the watch on some aftermarket leather strap

Been pondering this for years…
Here’s a link from 2017 I posted and I still don’t own a Daydate… https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=545314

For the record my DD40 with full links fits perfect so I don't personally have an issue just a common complaint I see often in the forums and hear about within the watch community so I'm just baffled Rolex hasn't done anything to try and find an adjustable solution

I find it hard to believe that Rolex hasn't found a way to make micro adjustments on the bracelet of one of their premium flagship models. I can imagine it's only a matter of time, especially since Rolex is known for gradual refinements and upgrades to their existing line up.

I would be nice but I find the margin from cold to hot small and it’s just super comfortable. I wear my 18238 a little loose and my 228206 a little tight. Both VERY comfortable.

I surely hope it does happen one day. This was my biggest issue when I finally purchased my DD. with the standard links I couldn't get a perfect fit. It was either just a tad too loose or a tad too tight. I ended up having to buy 2 grand links (1.25) to get the perfect fit. Having a micro-adjustment would be fantastic.

Of all the watches I have owned/own, my 128238 DD is sill my favorite to wear. Bought new in January 2022, it wears perfectly.

They could do an “easy” link but I wouldn’t count on it. I like the DD as it’s been for the past 40 odd years

Please, no change. I just wear a bit on the loose side in cold weather and it’s perfect in hot weather. I hate the bulky look of the adjustable clasps.

Do they make half links for the DD? Tried one on in the boutique and it was a tad snug… little more room wouldn’t hurt.

Where can I get a 1.5link for a Vintage 18238 UK based? Is it still direct with rolex, I dont really fancy paying £300+ for a single link.
Unfortunately my wrist side is exactly inbetween current link adjustment, either too tight or way to loose apart from on the hottest of days. |

To answer your question, I doubt it...although you really never know.
Imagine a Rolex executive, scanning the responses just to this thread alone. Pretty sure he'd turn to the rest of the group and say, "See, I told you we didn't need to." |
