First Fukuoka GTG

Kia ora everyone,

Last Sunday my wife and I met up with Tom (a.k.a KansaiVet) and his girlfriend for some friendly watch viewing and then some ramen (Well Tom and I were looking at watches anyway, the girls were just looking at us and shaking their heads and calling us watch nerds .) Tom took us to some great hidden away watch shops. I got to see the famous Space Dweller and even a few Paul Newmans, which was a first for this rookie. We tried on quite a few, most notably was the Platinum Day date II, now that thing is HEAVY and a BNIB SS Zenith Daytona with a black dial and all the stickers still intact, only $20,000! We saw a lot of really good prices. Sorry I can't be more explicit as to what we got to see, I'm still learning and appreciating. Looks like I'll have to go back do some more research, damn . Anyway hopefully, Tom will chime in and expand on our experience and explain some of the many cool models we got to see. Here are a couple of photos. Sorry no photos of the watches , with all the excitement I totally forgot, my bad . Next time I'll get shots of all the cool ones I promise .

1 The watch nerds (as the ladies kept calling us) in front the shop which had the zenith,
2 The watch nerds in front of the raman stall and a crazy man eyeing our watches.
3 In the ramen stall with the ladies.

Enjoy

So my girlfriend who knows I am obssesed with Rolex says "You want to meet people from a Rolex Forum?" She was a bit skeptical but very game to go.

Met up with Ryan and his lovely wife and we had a blast. Did a bit of walking and my knee was screaming at me. Could barely walk by the time I got home.

We hit several new and used Rolex places and had tons of Rolex eye candy. Our girls were getting along great and laughing at our Rolex geekiness.

We saw tons of new and Zenith SS Daytonas. LVs, GVs, Paul Newman Daytonas, old Subs and Seadwellers, vintage Explorers and Explorer IIs with orange 24 hour hands. We even saw the Space Dweller. This one shop we went to had so many old peices. Many of which were not for sale.

After we got our eyes filled we went and got our bellies filled with some good Tonkotsu Ramen ( a Fukuoka specialty) near Canal City in a little yatai (food stall.) Ryan and I got our drink on with some Asahi beer too and Ryan's wife stepped up to be the driver home. Great Lady.

My girlfriend said on the way home how much fun she had and that she wants to hang out with Ryan and his Wife again.

Looking forward to it.

That sounds like it could be fun. Tom's pretty 詳しい about Osaka I'm sure he knows some cool places to hang out too.
