Question on originality of crown

Dear Forum members,
recently bought a 2011 116610LN and have
a question on the originality of the crown.
It is more conical than other examples I have seen.
Can anybody enlighten me please?
Thanks in advance!
Kind Regards,
Johan

Welcome to the forum

You raise an interesting issue, as modern Rolex Winding crowns aren't conical but cylindrical

Please show dial as well as they changed quite often and due to random serial numbers it’s the only way to tell age, yours should be the 1st iteration.

Question on originality of crown

Welcome to the forum Johan.

The crowns don’t really vary from their general profile over almost 70 years.

While the size and tech specs changed over those years, they have never been conical.

If yours doesn’t look like this, then perhaps it was replaced with something generic.

Thanks!

I've tried to add pictures as an attachment in the first post but this didnt work I think, the images are too large.

The watch definitely has seen some stuff, the bezel insert is scratched and bezel has some nicks and has clearly been polished.

Will try to resize pictures tomorrow.

Kind Regards, Johan

Thanks Andad,

I know it probably is ok, but it definitely has a tapered feel to it.

Maybe it's just as worn/polished as the bezel.

Price was accordingly so it's great for edc :)

Looking at the pics the crown appears to be polished to the extent that the knurling has lost it's definition toward the outboard edge.
In fact it doesn't appear to be evenly polished.

Thanks Dirt,

same counts for the bezel,
there is a sweet spot in the bezel around the 20-30 mark
where your finger just glides over the indentations.
on the other side of the bezel they are still "crisp".

probably hit something hard and was polished to hell..
