When faced with this option
116618lb
or 5711 blue dial What do you choose? Sadly both is not an option. No other watches owned should weigh on this decision. Thanks!

No contest - I don't see value in any PM Rolex - so a walkover for the Naut.

Not big on PM in general, and definitely not yellow. 5711 on this one.

Completely different watches.
One is loud and bling. One is covert and quiet. Just depends on what appeals to you. |

you'll definitely get a biased answer here on the sub-forum, but 5711 for sure! it's beautiful and elegant.

I mean, are you serious? 5711 all the way. Not a fan of YG at all, so to me it is a no brainer. If I were to get a PM Rolex, the only options I would consider would be: any WG Daytona, Smurf, RG Daytona on strap, YM on rubber or a low key Cellini. Love Platona too, but at that price point I would never buy it, simply because there are too many APs, PPs, Langes and FPJ that I prefer.

Sorry, Eliot. I didn't mean to offend or berate you. You're right, we just don't seem to have similar tastes, at least when it comes to YG. As for the 5711, I absolutely love each of the three models in the current PP collection.

YG Sub for me, I have the 5711 in RG, that's my ideal pairing of the two.

116618 - I owned it and it is beautiful. Very bling. It would be hard to wear in every situation unless you are retired. Although it is made of softer gold it can still take a beating a little better than the more fragile 5711. The weight of the 116618 is around 230 grams while the 5711 is half that weight at 130 or so? I have heard people complain that the 5711 does not feel substantial enough. It is a dressy sports watch. The 116618 bracelet is better than the 5711 imo with its glidelock etc. You get an extra function with the submariner to time things like cooking and parking meters. That being said, the 5711 is a safer purchase financially. You are likely to lose a few thousand if you flip the sub atleast while the 5711 should retain all of its value. Availability is another issue. The 116618 is easily found at AD or used while the 5711 is much harder to find at an AD and used prices are inflated. Good luck.

Correct...and I am in fact. I kicked around the idea of the 116619 and the BLRO, but I'm just not a PM guy in general. BLRO may still work its way in at some point, but for now I'm looking to add the 5711...whenever Patek gets around to delivering one to my AD.
