But this washing machine topic does bring a memory back to me as well. My mom couldn't afford a washer, so we actually used scrubbing board all too often....One day, I found a neighbor, blocks away that put their old washing machine (the kind with the two roller on top) out in the trash. I rolled that puppy all the way home with a huge smile! My mom did accept it to my surprise! I can't remember how long it lasted but it sure helped her out. I wonder if she still remembers this one?

Thank you for this story. I wrote a story in this thread about my Dad and some watches but felt bad I had piggy backed it on Peter's story. Certainly didn't mean any distraction and it sometimes helps to remember our parents and these moments. Thanks again to you and Peter and 73!!
