Rolex Explorer 14270 versus 114270

I'm going to purchase my first Rolex, and I am between a Rolex Explorer 14270 and a 114270.

I know this is probably a sacrilege, and I know how comfortable Rolex bracelets are, but I usually wear my watch on a strap. I spend most of my day working on my laptop, and bracelets just aren't comfortable. I do want the option to swap back and forth.

I'm leaning towards a '98 or '99 14270, but I do appreciate the newer movement and better lume. That said, I understand that it is difficult to put straps on a 114270 and you have to use curved spring bars, which I'm not super into. I have no reason why, really, but in my mind, they seem weaker or more prone to fall out. I have no knowledge or experience to back that up, though.

This would be an everyday wear watch for me. Which do you suggest?
