What is the Difference between a 2005 Explorer II and a newer model Explorer II?

I have another question for the experts.

What is the difference between a 2005 P serial # Explorer II and a Z or M serial # Explorer II? I have a chance to buy a P serial # at a real good price. It looks brand new and comes with box and papers. This one does not have the lug holes either. I don't know if I should buy this one or buy a newer model.

Thanks for your input.
