What's considered a 'good discount' when buying a new 8500 Planet Ocean?
I have called about 13 places looking for a new 42mm Planet Ocean with the 8500 movement, stainless steel band, and orange numbers with black ceramic bezel - Omega Model Number 232.30.42.21.01.003
The BEST price I was able to find was about 20% off retail. Originally back in September I was able to find a dealer who was offering 30% off retail, so I put my name on a waiting list. A few months went by and I received a call from the dealer telling me that the watches are still on order and he is slowly fullfilling orders as the watches arrive - he also informed me that Omega raised the dealers rate a few percent so the new discount is 25% which is still awesome if you ask me (That would put the retail price at $4,650!!). But, I'm not sure if the watch is ever going to arrive () Which made me look into ordering from a different avenue. So here's my current situation. I have been waiting many many months for this piece to arrive and the dealer says he still has not received it yet of course, so with that said, I started to look at different Authorized Dealers, but the best price I can find from other Authorized Dealers is 20% off which is $4,960.. Still a great deal IMHO, but I wanted to get some feedback from you guys! Now I know we cannot discuss dealer's names, so please don't post the names of you dealers, but I'm sure we can post what our discount was. Any input or comments is greatly appreciated! |
