A quick sample of the pens on my desk...

Evidently, 32lbs Crane & Co. paper is not the best for trying fountain pens. It is rough paper, nothing like Clairefontaine.

The smoothest nib on that paper, as on all others, is the Dupont. Second, the modified Pelikan with Fine stub nib. Last, and pretty bad at that, the Sailor.
