Hacking the 324 movement. Will this hurt the watch?

A random video popped up while I was on YouTube and the guy showed a way to hack the seconds hand on his Aquanaut 5167. Just thought it was interesting more than anything else since have seen so many haters complain about the lack of this feature.

I'm not very knowledgeable at all when it comes to watch mechanics so honestly have no idea if this is harmful, common knowledge, or unique to this movement.

Anyway thought I would share for any opinions about this "hacking" work around.
