New DD40 Dial Preferences?
Hi All,
What do folks think of the new DD40 dials that were released this year? - RG Slate Ombre - YG Green Ombre - WG Blue Ombre I've been after a DD40 for a little while now, but perpetually (see what I did there) stuck with picking an option that's best complements other Rolex watches in the collection (DJ41 Blue Stick Fluted/Jubilee, Choc OF Daytona, BLNR - Oyster). Do any of the above supersede the RG Olive if I'm looking for a 'harder' to get DD and one that best complements my collection? I was very intrigued by the Slate Ombre. However, the press pictures and photos are quite varied in appearance, and wondering whether it overlaps too much with the other dials in my Rolex collection. I tried on the YG Green Lacquer recently but didn't really love that look either. I'm also not too interested in the MOP dials. Thanks for the input! |

I will wait for real life pictures in good quality before any judgement... by now YG green ombre is my favorite... also love that they put deconstructed romans on 36mm models...

All 4 are amazing but I agree that you really need to see them in person.
The only overlap would be the WG with blue ombré and it is so nice your DJ would be redundant imo. If you go that route, I’d suggest just selling the DJ to partially fund the DD. I think you should decide what gold you want first be it YG, EG, or WG. |

Yellow Gold/green ombre
Quote:
From the pics had my heart set on WG/Blue ombre fluted....however the yellow gold/green combination for me was stunning in the 'flesh', really regal looking and my opinion switched from WG/blue to YG/Green....having said that the WG/Blue was still an absolute beauty but eyes kept wandering back to the gold/green combo....could definitely see an argument in owning both Here are a few pics....sorry for the quality...sadly do not think incaptured the gold/green that well... |

The new DD dials are just incredible. I’m definitely interested in the Everose with Slate hombre dial.

Plat - Ice Blue Diamonds
WG - Meteorite RG - Slate Ombre or Eisenkiesel Diamond YG - White Romans (I'm biased as that's what I have LOL) but the Onyx with Diamonds is beautiful These are my opinions on dials for the 40 and if I could have one of each precious metal what Id pick.

I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to the DD40.
WG: love the silver baguette dial or the black baguette dial YG: I have always loved the silver baton dial and was able to get one when they came out last year. I would also love it in silver baguette dial but it does not come that way on YG Platinum: Ice Blue with baguettes RG: prefer the brown or sun dust dial with baguettes. |

As a general rule I like romans. I just really don’t like the deconstructed vibe in any flavor.

The 36 mm DD were the star of the show. Really fantastic additions and glad to see those options.

More blue than green
If this is the blue/green dial, comes off rather just blue in the pics I took

Short answer, I think it's too early to tell. While I agree all those dials are amazing, it's just a question of how the masses will react.
I do predict, though, Rolex will not flood the market with these dials. I think they'll trickle them out and see what the reaction will be before there are any substantial allocations. |

It’s great to see the 36’s getting some attention. The addition of the deconstructed romans on the 36 is a huge win. |

This was super helpful! Thank you! Always great to check this forum because there's folks who were at Geneva to see the models. Appreciate you sharing the pictures.
Thanks to everyone else for the feedback? I'm likely going to unload my DJ as I go down this path. And i'm awaiting the opportunity to see these in the metal. Quote:
