Patek's on Chrono24 in Russia

There are a lot of Patek Phillipes on chrono24 from sellers in Russia. Many if them appear completely legitimate except for one thing... They are in Russia. Their prices are all substantially less than dealers from other countries. While there is risk buying anything from Russia, there is still the chrono24 guarantee so I would hope that reduces risk.

Has anyone here bought a Patek from a seller in Russia on chrono24 and what was your experience? Are there any dealers in Russia on chrono24 who are trustworthy?

Patek's on Chrono24 in Russia

It seems like half of the listings on chrono 24 are bogus or reverse marketing ploys. I reached out to sellers on a Patek and non of them actually had the watch. One said they sold it but Chrono 24 still hadn’t taken the watch down months later. It’s still up. That solidified my decision to buy from an AD and start a relationship.

Those listings clearly say "only ships within Russia or CIS countries"

So you would need to be picking it up in person, or in a post Soviet block nation.

Azerbaijan is nice in June.

They can fake anything in Russia, from an iPhone to KFC; however, they do have one of the strongest luxury markets. In Moscow, every international luxury brand has at least 3-4 authorized stores hence inventory is quite large. Furthermore, Russian like expensive things, so most of the market desires complications and precious metal pieces that carry a status symbol, where’s a SS piece just doesn’t do it for them regardless of its demand around the world.

Also it has been known that high circles people gift items like watches as “gifts” in exchange for favors and many on the receiving end of those “gifts” can’t be seen with such items or it might not be their first of such gift, they churn them into cash pretty fast. So I’m sure there are a lot of legit sources and watches but I wouldn’t trust them to be shipped to the States especially through Russian customs...

The watches look legit on Chrono24, only they say you need to pick them up at site.
Not sure it gets that interesting buying a watch when you need to add a ticket to Moscow + hotel etc...

I always assumed the price would go up 15% if I actually flew to Russia to buy the watch. Oh and then pay a tax on it when leaving the country.

This.

Most other posters seem to have neither been in Russia nor done business there. I have spent quite a bit of time there over the past 20 years, both for pleasure and on business, and I would agree to pick up in person but the same is true for any dealer I have no experience with, be it in Russia, in the US, or anywhere else. Moscow especially is a great city and will make for an interesting trip regardless if you end up buying a watch or not. Personally I find it much more interesting than NYC where I have lived in the past.
