Lusting for a Montblanc!
Hey guys!!
First Post in the "Pens & Writing Instruments" forum! Well after seeing all of those beautiful Montblancs, So now I'm wanting one!!! So I'm kinda looking for advice. As you know, I'm a student and I use pens A LOT! So my questions are: 1.Do you suggest a Fountain Pen or a Ballpoint? 2.This pen will be taken to school and I really don't wanna attract attention. Which simple model do you suggest? 3. I like smooth writing, which nib or cartridge do you suggest? Gaby |

I would suggest a Montblanc Generation... Comes in many different colors and combinations
For school, I think a ballpoint would do best. |

Hi Gaby
Looks like I came in time to help so new MB fans. As a MB guy I would recomend going for a fountain pen. Get the 146 with a Fine nib. I would say get a used MB as they cost a lot the new ones but of course there is a risk involved with that. The 146 is a piston filled pen that holds a nice large amount of ink. Be careful if you do buy used MB as there are fakes out there. I buy my pens from verious sources and never got a fake even from ebay but still you want to be careful. I bought few from ebay. A used 146 in good condutuin should be around the 250$ while a new one I think over 500$. PM me if you need any additional advice. |

First, are you right handed? If yes, FP is for you otherwise you'd better use BP or rollerball - because left handed FP users can very easily get the ink smudged.
As for models - the Chopin FP probably, with platinum trim (that's my preference). The Chopin can fit both a cartridge and convertor (i.e. use bottled ink). In terms of nib size, it requires you to try the demo pens. People have different preferences... |

Gaby, I would suggest a Montblanc Starwalker ballpoint.

Get a FP.
If you can use a BP, might as well get a BIC.

I've owned a fountain, rollerball and ballpoint (Mont Blanc Meisterstuck). Love them all.
For school. I would recommend the ballpoint (in whatever pattern you select). The fountain and rollerball tend to take a few seconds to dry as opposed to the ballpoint. Just my thoughts. Good luck in your selection and apprehension!

A ball point or roller ball would be best for school. Fountain pens can be tricky to use on certain types of paper. If you plan on using it for exams you could run into problems with bleed through.
