Considering Trading 2 Watches + Cash for Patek 5167...

So I currently have a 4 piece collection, see below. I would much rather have a 3 or 5 piece collection. Don't ask me why, because I don't have a good answer. Anyway, I'm considering selling off my Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue and Grand Seiko Blizzard plus cash for a Patek 5167 Aquanaut on rubber. That would leave me with the 5167, 15400, and 1815 U/D.

Or, I can continue saving for a year or two and just add the 5167 to make it a 5 piece collection.

What do you all think? (5167 photo not mine)

Sell. If you don't like the aquanaut you can flip it and get the other two back.

I would do it ALL DAY LONG! Once you get the Patek, why would you wear the Rolex or Seiko?

I'd do it and maybe add a Rolex back in future if you want a more durable bezel.

if you add the Patek and make 3 it will be one hell of a collection no doubt. Question is can you handle such a collection with no daily bombproof beater?
The AP, Lange and 5167 will need treated with kids gloves but the Seiko and Rolex will stand up to anything.

Im over my flip stage and intend to keep and add moving forward

That's got nice symmetry. SS bracelet, leather strap, rubber strap. 2 Swiss, 1 German.

I'd say the Patek makes a fine "beater." Yeah, the bezel has a reputation for scratches, but so does the polished center links of the milgauss. The 5167 will have the meaningful water resistance (120 m) and the 324 movement is plenty tough.

Plus it's got such stealth.

I did a near identical trade, and no regrets.

Hate to be a hater but I'd sell the seiko and save up. It would be nice to keep a Rolex in the mix

Of course do it, about the guys saying you need a beater, the 5167 is absolutely fine for a daily and for some soft sports and water activities, I am wearing mine about 50% of the time for a few months, in rotation with my 5712, my two other watches are in the bank and not in the rotation, I will probably change when I feel like it, and it's fine, it got a really small hairline, and it's gold not steel, so supposed to scratch easily, and I even sleep with my watches, so it is being used, sure the bezel is flat and you need to be a little bit careful, but if you have a normal wrist awareness you'll be fine

I would not do it. You have a very nice 4 piece collection. It would be a shame to separate them. Wait and save for the aquanoaut. This will also give you time to think through your decision.

Keep the AP and Lange. Go for it. 5167 sports an awesome movement. You will be getting a Geneva seal and a Patek watch that you can wear discreetly daily.

Sell and pick up the 5167 now. Prices aren't going to go down. You can always pick up the old ones again later for about the same money probably.

I would flip the Milgauss and Seiko in a heartbeat for a 5167 (heck, I'd even sell the 15400)

Everyone here will recommend you get the 5167.

The real question for you is whether to sell the Milgauss and Seiko to fund the 5167. That really depends on your financial situation and if you still enjoy wearing those watches.

Most people who get into Patek will keep at least one or two SS Rolex watches in their collection. However that is purely a personal decision.

Love my 5167 and 15400, so you would have a similar base to your my collection. May Sub still does get the most wear tho, so it's nice to have a more wearable piece.

But sure, AP, PP, and ALS would make a great trio.

Seems not be very much love for the Grand Seiko not trying to educate anyone but in my opinion there a better watch than the heavyweights that you guys are talking about I would never get rid of the grand Seiko I have one in my collection and it's an amazing watch
