Hello from Minnesota
Hi all. I am new to this forum. I have been collecting pocket watches for about 20 years (my dad got me started), but while I greatly enjoy wristwatches, I have never collected them. I have decided to start though because I want to be able to use my collection and not just store it. I have greatly enjoyed the forums here already, and really appreciate the time and attention the TRF users put into collecting and diseminating information.
Thank you. Rick |

Good to hear that there are several folks from MN. I am in the Twin Cities. My wife and I moved here about two years ago from Houston, TX.

I was in MN from 2003 to 2006, and still own a house in St Paul.
To survive the winters you have to buy into their lifestyle. Buy some good boots, fleece pullovers and forget about good pizza. Drive out to Afton Alps and do some skiing, go to the ice castle, eat a dome dog before they are no more and watch a little girls high school hockey on TV. I was acclimated by my 3rd winter, but got a job offer back home in MD. I lived in the city. I don't think I could have handled the burbs or the country. |

The wife and I try to get out and do as much as possible, but we have an 18 month old that makes it difficult to get out when it below 0. So for now we just hibernate and pray that spring comes in 6 or 7 months.

Take the 18 mo to the Como Conservatory. He/she can run around in the warm humid air and see plants!

We used to do that all the time! We lived off of Lexington down by Grand and Summit, so going to Como on a cold day was a treat, except you had to carry your coat around. You can also go to the Como Zoo, which is mostly indoors in the winter.

Or park over by the carousel, and run coatless into the place!

Thanks for the suggestions. We had not thought of that.
