Rolex malfunction
So I just purchased a Rolex submariner and maybe I’m doing something wrong I’m not quite sure but I wound the watch up and it has no problem ticking but has yet to tell the time yet. Any suggestions?

Welcome to TRF,
So what you’re saying is you wound the watch and the second hand is making its rotation but the minute hand and hr hand are not advancing? Share a bit of your story, maybe even share a picture here. It really helps a lot so experienced members can help. |

You need to pull the crown all the way out and “tell it” your local time first; then it will tell you the time from that point onwards.

Yes that’s exactly what I’m saying the minute hand won’t advance at al. I’m trying to post a video showing the malfunction but not sure how to do that on here.

You’re quite the comedian aren’t you? Read the post more carefully. I set the time. Wound the watch up. The second hand is ticking but the minute hand has yet to move yet.

I meant to say I wound the watch up and set the time. It’s ticking perfectly but the minute hand has yet to move.

It could be a problem with the cannon pinion so I would take it back to the Authorized Dealer. Hope you get it sorted.

I’m no watchmaker, but the minute hand is not set correctly in its spot on the dial. Easy fix, but will need to go to RSC.

So how old is the watch? Is the minute hand easy to set with the crown pulled out or does it feel stiff and dry? If the seconds hands moves but the minute hand does not, it needs a service by a qualified person or Rolex.

I think it’s important to know it’s history of “where” it came from to know what the OP is dealing with really. Did it come from an AD, or second hand dealer or one of those to good to be true sales… hard to help and say take to RSC when it could be a holy crap should have done my homework before buying moment for the OP.

Sir,
Before you possibly do (more) damage to the watch, at the very least, please bring it to a local watch maker/ jeweler who has great experience fixing Rolex watches…..Your best bet is to go to an AD (Authorized Dealer) and have them tell you what’s the matter and what the cost to repair your watch will be…… |

I'd push the crown in and give it a minute.

As others have said, have you screwed the crown in? If so then take it to the AD and have them take a look

As mentioned by others more info might help you.
How old is the watch? Where did you buy it? AD? Grey? If it does need looking at its should be something your RSC can fix |
