This falls squarely in the vintage range to me. I mean c'mon, look at that beautiful nipple dial and font on the date window :-)

So it seems as if "vintage" isn't a date so much as "certain styling cues, etc."?

Interesting discussion!

I LOVE your 228235 btw!

The 6s and 9s in your date wheel don't close to form a complete oval. Look at your date today (the 6th) and you'll see that it's "open". Compare it to any of your modern Rolex date wheels and you'll see they're closed.

Here's mine today:

Beautiful! Big congrats on your "vintage" Rolex!

Would love to see some photos of all the accessories. These single-owner full sets seem more and more rare nowadays.

Here you go. The paperwork is all super crisp and all the manuals look like they have never even been opened. Inner and outer box look brand new as well. Pretty neat time capsule.

16753 at home with his much younger brothers. The 16710 is an A serial sold in 2000. The 116710LN is a first year 2008 and the Kermit is a final year 2010. Everything else is 2015 and newer. Mr. Eastwood is the old man of this group. I might try 60's or 70's one day to get a real old timer in the mix!

Great collection and agree on 60's or 70's reference to go on that last empty spot. A nice 1680 would fit just right!

Thank you! If I didn't have it, I would probably go for one of these too. Beautiful root beer!

There is some consensus (not sure I agree fully!) that in order to be truly vintage (no matter how old the watch actually is) a Rolex needs to have an acrylic crystal and a dial without the white gold markers. To me that rules out a lot of amazing vintage references though...

Wow, well done that's a really really nice piece. Full set also, what a gem. Its Vintage for me for sure. Defiantly on my radar one of these, they are just a really cool watch.

Well done and wear it well and in the best of health.

BTW what a super collection you have there. All bases covered in that collection.

Thanks bud! Took me many years to assemble it all. Only a couple pieces left in modern stuff I am chasing, but turns out I enjoy this vintage stuff so maybe add another piece or two there as well in the coming years. What a great hobby.

Very nice vintage piece. IMHO that amazing collection of yours is going to rotate to more vintage in the future!

I hope so. I have already been talking to another member about a potential future deal on an X serial (1991) 16710. Not exactly vintage, but classic, and will be vintage in another 10 years I suppose. I'd like to slowly expand my collection and get a couple more 80's/90s era GMTs if conditions are right. I am having a great deal of fun researching and learning about the older Rolex GMTs.

I'd love a fuchsia 1675 but man are the prices high. We shall see how this all develops.

Beautiful watch! Tough for me to find vintage in my neck of the woods. Which vintage store/dealer did you purchase it from as I may have to look there myself!
