I was wondering from some of you owners.....What's it like wearing one of these in the "wild"? Not everyone is a watch aficionado but as we all know, most of the general public knows what a Rolex is. Also, most of the general public connects a quartz Rolex with a fake one. What are people's reactions to your Oysterquartz? Do a number of people automatically criticize you and say that you have a fake watch? I was always curious about this.
I own a 17003. In my experience, whenever anyone asks the "What do you mean it's a Rolex with a battery?" question...all it really takes is a simple explanation about the history. The watch itself, when it's both on the wrist and when you can hear the movement, sets itself apart from any fake out there. The craftsmanship is real. The bracelet is very comfortable, and it's a versatile watch. Can be worn at a formal event or climbing Mt. Everest.

The movement looks so good I added a clear case-back.

In all honesty I think most people are too polite to try and call you out on a fake watch to your face. That being said, I wear my oysterquartz every day and whenever someone does recognize it as a rolex I will tell them that its an oysterquartz and give a brief explanation of what that means.

Late reply, but yes, that’s a fair price.

Just a quick question here, does the oysterquartz bracelet stretch? or does anyone experience it before?

Thanks!

They do stretch some. I have a DD OQ from 1985 and it’s showing mild bracelet sag.

Thanks for letting me know. I was hoping someone having the 17013 or 17014 to advise on this as well (because of the different type of bracelet shape)

That thing is sharp. I have always been a fan of the Quartz. It really is a great looking watch. Someday:)

Thanks for sharing.

1992

Setup ebay alerts (you just missed one, a 1991, for less than what I paid), Timepeaks, Chrono24, and Time constrained google searches (limit to past week, check every week).

Looks authentic, but im not sure I would pay what theyre asking, way too many miles for my liking. There are better examples on chrono24 atm, also TRF(here) has amazing deals when they do popup.

Update: RSC Los Angeles said they can order for me, 52$ each, installed. My local watch shop (previously RSC San Francisco) can order for me, 200$ each installed.

Thinking I will make a trip to LA soon. Ill ask about service dials and post my findings re: cost and avail.

I recently got a 17013 and I just noticed on the crown there are two dots below the Rolex Crown. Does this means it's a replacement crown? Most OQ's look like they have a line under the crown. Mine's an '88. Any info is appreciated.
