Will NEW movement in 5711 make it to 5167?
Wanted to hear everyone's thought:
Will the NEW movement (26-330SC) in the 5711 transition its way down to the 5167 (and replace 324SC)? I know that before this switch for the 5711, the 5711 and 5167 shared the same movement (324SC). Therefore, it would make logical sense (maybe?) that the 5167 will also get the 26-330SC. However, it that were to happen wouldn't Patek have release their new 5168G-010 (green) with the new movement already in it? I see on Patek's website it has the 324SC movement for the new green Aquanaut. Perhaps all the "time-only" Aquanauts will keep it's 324SC movement I don't know Patek well enough as to know how long things take to filter down. Or maybe they won't in order to differentiate the 5711 and 5167 |

I am thinking they will eventually share the same movement.

I would agree. Eventually it will make its way down to the 5167. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also new movement has a new clutching system to allow for better manual winding. The older movement stays connected to the rotor so manual winding is not advised beyond 8 to 10 times just to get the movement running and over winding manually could damage the movement. The clutch separates so no more damage from manually winding.

What? So you should not fully wind the watch using the crown? I just assumed that they would have a clutch as to not damage the movement when using the crown to wind.

Not according to Patek and most other brands for that matter. Rolex recommends 20 winds only to get the watch going. Watches which have dual winding capacity, as some Grand Seikos have, usually tout that feature prominently in their instructions.
