When did you get old?

Light hearted question guys. Sunday afternoon. What I mean is at what age did you feel alright I can trust myself, I can take care of those around me and I can go from there it's all good?

When did I become responsible or when did I get old?

Two very different ages.

I’m not convinced I’m ever going to reach that stage!

They mean the same brother. Think about it. It's all good though. Part of life.

I joined the army at 15, I would like to think it was then, although, realistically it will have been when I was 18.

Although I am 62 now, I only feel 147.

Ah, no.

Must be a language thing.

Here getting old connotes getting feeble, more medical issues, twilight years, feeling invisible, etc etc.

On the other hand, being responsible happens at many different ages for different people and means being responsible for your own actions.

Here "old" is the last thing anyone wants to be and there are fortunes made attempting to stop/slow down the process.

If you asked someone on the street, "when did you get old", they'd probably slap you.

Perhaps the most intriguing question is "at what age did you get wise, attain wisdom"?

I get it bro. You're technically right. I'm talking principles and I'm just lazing on a sunny afternoon my friend.

I got old a couple of years ago at 52-53, although I sometimes feel weirdly like I'm still in my 20's!!

I started taking care of myself and others probably at 19. It doesn't always work out as well as I want but I do what I can.

I don't feel it too bad, but this 65 is bothering me. HAD to go on Medicare, no choice. So now I'm an old fart I guess. Still lots to do but do realize the I'm getting closer to the end of the tape measure, HA.

I honestly think I have solved this once subjective question:

You officially have become old when the reactions of those around you to the act of you merely falling down goes from laughter to gasps of horror.

So, when falling down goes from being a funny story to a sad story to a third party observer....you are now old.

I rest my case.

First child = officially a responsible adult

Reading glasses = officially getting older

It’s all part of a wonderful life

Well I answered the question as it relates to your thread title. The answer to your question, which is more about feeling comfortable as an independent adult, it’s all about financial independence.

I respectfully disgree to some extent. For me it's about choices. When, or at what age, no matter what, under any circumstance, 'your' choice will the best possible. Financial stability is crucial but its just part of the game IMHO.
