Is the exp2 considered a more robust and rugged watch than the explorer?
Trying to justify both, and I don’t travel that much to justify the gmt function
Thanks

I know the thread kicked off with a focus on the black dial. But I felt the need to share my polar that’s bringing me so much pleasure right now.

It’s a great piece.

Annnndddd ..... this one. So I’m huge fan and I agree that it is cool because it’s under the radar compared to most models.

Got one coming. 2018 model from a grey for under RRP by £200. What’s not to like. Awesome looking polar dial and GMT! Amazing. Pics when it arrives.

Love the black that surrounds the lume against the white dial. When Rolex does a white dial watch, they sure know how to do it and knocked it out of the park with this one

I'm a wildlife conservationist and wear a 16570/black. I've traveled to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, the DRC, SA, Botswana, Namibia, Madagascar, and more, and no one has ever noticed my watch. My friend George Schaller is the greatest field biologist since Charles Darwin and appeared in advertisements for the 16570, proclaiming that his Rolex has never let him down. George is now 86 and still working in the field.
The Explorer II has proven itself and is a real Rolex in both heritage and application. I will wear mine again in Kenya this fall and while chopping wood in my backyard this winter in the American Midwest. I'll also wear it with my tuxedo at a couple of galas this year.

First post here!

A 1999 Explorer II 16750 is my first Rolex, purchased while on vacation in France over the holidays. One of the main reasons I went with this model (like many others it seems) is how understated it is.

Just picked up one myself! Been hunting the right polar dial down, although I did consider the black dial because of how it contrasts with patina'd lume plots.

Hello, my ad has a brand new black dial explorer 2.
I do have 2018 model submariner 114060. if do a trade do I need to pay over?

I like the black explorer and it has date and get function which I can use it every day.

Eventough I am using the dive bezel as gmt its not its original purpose.

plus I am really forgetting the date.

What do you suggest?

Everyone in this thread will tell you to do it. The Sub can be formal so it’s a little more eclectic. Exp2 is bigger and more sporty. Depends on your lifestyle. If you need the date complication then you have to think about that too.

There is a restriction for members with less than 10 messages, can't post pictures unfortunately (considered as link). I'll do when the counter has reached this "milestone"

1997 Black 16570

Received Saturday, got my first strap today. The spring bars that came with the watch are a little tight for the strap (couldn't squeeze the strap in), but using some from Crown & Buckle. The 20mm spring bars from there were the fork type and definitely smaller in length. Any recommendations on which spring bars would be best for a nato?
