At this rate, the white is going to hit $100k before the blue :O

Hard for me to understand why Patek would discontinue a base model which in in very high demand with very limited production. What is the point of doing it?

^ They (partly by choice) will have a finite supply of 324 movements to allocate across production and presumably they want to free up some capacity for new models that use the same base movement. They will still sell every watch they make regardless of whether 5711 white is in the catalogue.

They will eventually discontinue the 5711 blue as well, of course, although presumably a blue dial Nautilus in one form or another will always be in the collection even if the reference number changes.

I don't think the white 5711 was in as much demand at all.

Blue's been hotter. Obviously.

And I believe even the 5711/1R was hotter.

Keep in mind, far less white dials were made than blue. Likely because the blue could be used on other models? With the 5726 white dial gone, this does make some sense in that regard. No?

Those who are on long with the white dial or with the 5711 in general will may have a hard landing if Patek release an updated ,better built reference .
Time will tell.

If they start selling for anything close to 100K, I would likely sell mine. I love it but not that much.

White dial 5711 is discontinued

I don't go by Nostradomus but what goes up must come down... It didn't take much research to confirm that these weren't all that hot, not all that long ago. I think its inevitable that time will change the game

A lot has happened since 2013. Blue dials were selling for the same back then. Doesn't change much and I cannot see us going back to that for a long time. Recession could do it but would have to be something pretty big.

Blue in 2016, didn't feel like scrolling back that far down to 2013 but surely will be in the same ballpark.

my AD offered either, I chose blue since I wanted a 5712 next. Some prefer the black dial 116500 as well, I happened to choose the white in that variant.

Yep this is a fair point. A few countries went into recession during the SARS outbreak. It will affect buying sentiment especially since China is the epicentre of this.

People who can afford Patek watches can afford to hire someone with a surgical mask to pick it up.
