50th Anniversary "Snoopy"

I was at my local Omega Boutique...........the manager brought out the new Bond watch to show me (couldn't sell it to me as it was promised to someone else)......its a beauty!!!! Anyway, while chatting, he knows I own a Silver Snoopy Award and mentioned that Omega is planning a 50th Anniversary, non-limited edition version, coming in the Fall.

Interesting. I'll probably pass but good to know. I can't wait to see the Bond in person!

Assuming true...........this reminds me a bit of Panerai. For many years, the only modern Cali dial you could get was the 249 (think Snoopy 1). Then a number of years later, they came out with the 448 (think Snoopy 2 - but my no means as cool as Snoopy 2). Both LE's. Both hits. Yes, there were some precious metal editions, but spendy and also LE's. Then came the 424 which was a regular production Panerai Cali dial with their newest and truest movement. Panerai wanted in on that Cali dial demand and $$$$. Much like we see Omega trying to cash in on with a modern Ed White. I'm sure they look at secondary prices of original models and drool at the dollar figures. The demand is certainly there with the Snoopy I'm sure. Modern variation. 3861 movement. Spendy price tag we all complain about. I can certainly see it.

Interesting. Last year was the 50th so maybe it's just an updated production version of the Speedy Pro with a 3861 inside.

I just hope it's Hesalite, whatever it is...

Just a place holder. That’s it.

Apparently number two.

Nice. Good luck. Curious how this turns out.

If it's a 321 with Hesalite I'll kick myself for not being more proactive.

Interesting information. I am more interested in the new Bond watch at the moment. I assume they are starting to arrive. It should be interesting to see the reception they receive and what happens with pricing.

Any idea on cost? Peanuts or more than that?

So this model will actually have an association with Snoopy? I'm still curious how it'll be considered a 50th at year 51.

Omega can be its own worst enemy when it comes to limited and not-so-limited releases. Hopefully it's not a re-release of the Silver Snoopy Award due to the hype surrounding that model. Money-grabs aren't good.

In 2003, Omega introduced the Speedmaster Professional “Snoopy Award” to commemorate this 1970 milestone. Although the watch was a limited (and numbered) edition, Omega produced a whopping 5,441

That's a lot. But they are so desirable now. Wish I got one years ago before they shot up.

So I called my local AD, exclusive Omega dealer but not a boutique...

He called the rep and said there was no hard info, it was likely but didn’t confirm there would be one.

Thoughts?

There is no hard info..... as stated in my original post, I was at an Omega corporate boutique in Woodland Hills California (Topanga Mall) where I’ve purchased the Silver Snoopy award, Spectre Bond watch and others. Manager told me The next Snoopy would most probably be coming out in the fall but there are currently no pics, pricing or any promotional materials available to confirm 100%. The one thing he didn’t know for sure is that I would not be a numbered limited edition.

At the end of the day, I hope he’s right!

Just what 037 said, hope it is not a re-release of Snoopy.

I'm an Omega fan but I didn't like their recent 2020 Omega Tokyo released which had the resemblances of the 2004 Apollo 11 35th, Apollo 15 35th, and the 2006 Gemini IV.
I felt like it diluted the limited edition, in my opinion.

If my math is correct this April will be 50th anniversary of Apollo 13. Last year was 50th anniversary of Apollo 11.

Isn't there already an Apollo 13 edition of the Speedmaster? That's the Snoopy unobtainable ($25K+) LE that's actually limited.

Of course. Doh.

No reason you can't have a new commemorative limited edition every 5 years, right?

That makes sense. With all the 50th/321 talk I wasn't thinking about XIII.

Ok, now the question is if Omega will try to cash in on Silver Snoopy hype by making something similar and "limiting" it to some huge number with too high of a price for what's inside.

Semi-joking cynicism aside, 11 April should be interesting if that's the big day. Let's hope "Houston, we have a problem" doesn't apply to this mission.
