And there you have it. The "shortage" will likely get worse before it gets better.

Many people are temporary without job
And in the near future busnisses will go bankrupt and some people will loose their job..... that shortage bullshit will be over very soon

When people loose their job or business there are more important things than a stupid watch

I guess you can consider yourself very very blessed if you’re in a position to be upset about the unavailability of a watch.

I'd like the watch I am waiting on, but realise that there are more important issues at play currently. So getting emotional one way or the other isn't beneficial.

As to supply; it is hard to argue that it will ease if the factory that produces the watches isn't producing watches. And the 17-27 March, all business are doing this; "let's see what it will be like on 27 March"... of course, they will extend this period indefinitely - unless they are putting in place working conditions during this shut-down period that abide by social distancing protocols. Universities are doing this. Shutting down for a week while classes transition online. Perhaps (and it is a big perhaps) Rolex is shutting down to rearrange work spaces so people aren't in close proximity to one another? Maybe someone who can read the document will chime in with more details as to what it says?

ROLEX ROLEX SA RueFrançois-Dussaud3-5-7 1211GENÈVE26JEAN-FRÉDÉRICDUFOUR Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Colleagues, I already told you this last week, we are facing a very serious situation. In order to protect you, your families and loved ones, but also to limit the risk of spreading the Coronavirus as much as possible, we have decided to close our production sites in Geneva, Biel and Crissier on Tuesday March 17 from 5:00 p.m. until Friday 27 March 2020. Of course, this date could be postponed depending on the evolution of the epidemic. Some departments will have to remain open for questions of operational imperatives. Your managers will give you more details on this subject. Hence, we ask you to strictly comply with the containment measures decreed by our authorities in Switzerland and in France. I am sure that this is a bad passage and that if we all adopt the right behavior, this will help to participate in stabilizing the situation and will allow you to resume work in complete safety as soon as possible. Please respect the instructions of your managers to ensure this closure in good conditions. Good luck for the days to come, take care of yourself! Best regards, Geneva, March 16, 2020

I doubt they’ll reopen on the 27th the way this is evolving.

Yes, as I noted above... A stop-gap directive that will be extended indefinitely. Some experts say these conditions won't abate until 2021!

I don't think the full ramifications of everything will be seen until this is under control. And once the dust settles from the virus I do believe we will be left with a lot of people unfortunately unemployed and everyone with less money in their pockets.

Two supermarkets near to me are no longer offering online delivery as they are so oversubscribed so getting decent food is now our priority, not watches.

I wonder if the RSCs are going to close (Dallas or NY)? I’m planning on sending my SubC 116610 in for service. Guess I should just hold off...

I’m waiting for Omega to announce they are suspending the production of all Limited Editions. Then we will know it’s definitely serious

Agreed. And I wouldn’t want to send the watch in and it sit idle for a long period of time...

We should expect that date to be extended, as the SarsCoV-2 takes up to 14 days to show as CoVid-19. You need to make sure people have time to show symptoms.

Here in China it was more like 3-4 weeks as Chinese New Year Holiday was included, extending for anyone who has been around a cough. If an office gets a case, it is closed and cleaned, and extended.

This has worked, as almost all of the 20 new cases are people stopped at the boarder. They find them as everyone gets a chest x-ray and 14 days enforced quarantine. No, I'm not kidding.
