5711 year 2006 or 2019?

I am being offered these two. Both are in mint condition, full set. The one from 2019 is in slightly better condition and still under warranty. The one from 2006 has never been serviced. The price difference is about 11k USD.

Could 5711 owners/enthusiasts tell what would be your choice and why? As far as I know there are some aesthetic and technical differences among the two. Thanks

Couple of thoughts...

1) The 2006 will have Cal 315 or 324 and the 2019 will have Cal 324 or the current 330. Cal 330 is hacking while 315 and 324 are not. The 5711 w the 3Hz 315 is quite rare and has slightly more power reserve vs the 4Hz 324 and 330.

2) The 2006 has the Geneva Seal and screwed bracelet links whereas the 2019 has the Patek Seal and pins to connect the links.

3) Service cost is around USD 1.5k - you can check the exact figure on the German Patek website. I have been happy w the Munich Service Center so far and drop off stuff myself.

If the difference in condition is minimal I'd likely get the 2006 watch and save USD 9+k accounting for a service. It has the Geneva Seal and the screws in the bracelet which I prefer. It won't have hacking seconds like one of the later 2019 models with Cal 330 but that doesn't matter to me.

Thank you for the insights. How about cosmetic variants?

The % off would be a factor me personally.

So if it’s 60 vs 50 2019 for certain

or 50 vs 40 probably 2006

Why don't you buy it brand new from AD at MSRP, or even better, at a discount?

For a net discount of $9K, after movement service: 2006. Keep in mind that it will probably need a service immediately to function properly.

The logo on the dial was updated in 2018, Cal 330 has a different rotor shape from the 315 and 324, and the dials are supposed to have came in slightly different colors over time. Around 2009 there was also the so-called LED dial with wider stripes but that won't matter for 2006 vs 2019.

I think you are correct about the dial color, too. The newer dials are a brighter, more sapphire color whereas the earlier blue 5711 dials are flatter and matte.

I forgot about that logo change. I definitely prefer the smaller logo. I’d lean 2006 now

Id wait. I think those prices are going lower. However, between the two...2006. Geneva Seal, screws much better IMHO.
