What does the lack of anti-reflective coating on a Sub crystal mean?

Does it lead to scratches on the crystal more easily?

Subs don't have anti reflective coatings nor do the other models.. New ones have it under the cyclops only.

The coating itself will scratch much more easily than the crystal would.

Same principle as having the option of AR coating on the lenses of your glasses. There is always the possibility of scratching it. But AR on lenses is a definite improvement over no AR.

AR coating under the entire crystal would be good. The reason most often cited for not doing this, is that the reflective crystal enhances the appearance of the watch.

I’ve never been troubled by any of my watches’ reflection. I don’t get the fixation on AR.

Without it, far less likely to scratch. If an AR coating is on the outside of the crystal it can scratch relatively easily. Had it happen on a few watches, both Omega and Breitling.
