Is anyone else stuck at 40 MM

I have a tiny wrist, about 6.25" and the most I can do is 42mm. It is really about the thickness for me having such a thin wrist. Nearly all Rolex fit me nicely, even a DSSD believe it or not. The only one I did not love was the SD43 as they have a wider bracelet.

I absolutely would love to have an AP ROO, but the thing just looks like a fat clock on my wrist even though it is "42mm" and for some reason the 15400 wears bigger which I do not understand.

Great place to be at 40mm. My wrist is 7.75" and the 40's are superb!

I went from a 36 mm Datejust to a clunky 41mm DJ II and back again to a 36mm Datejust and have never been happier. I fell for the big watch craze and paid the price.

I have similar wrist size but I wear them all different sizes from avg to XL. They are all good!

I’m a 7.5” flat wrist so can wear pretty much any watch size , with one proviso . If the lugs overhang my wrist then it’s definitely a no from me , but it’s really all down to what you feel comfortable with .

40mm is very big for a watch. Look at some old Soprano’s reruns. 6 foot 2 and 280 pounds, the 36mm Day Date looks perfect on Tony’s wrist. We do get caught up in the bullshit.

I wear an AP Diver on my 6.5” wrist but other than that, all my watches are 40mm or below.

i wonder though. 6'2" with a small wrist is different than someone with an 8" wrist.
i personally started out with 33mm vintage watches mostly. but my taste just evolved towards bigger watches. i know 45mm is about the most i feel good wearing.
maybe it's just a personal preference, maybe we're influenced.

Like others have said, the lug to lug length is equally as important. That said I do find most 40mm watches to be within a sweet spot for me.

I have small wrists and 40mm looks sporty and elegant at the same time. It’s really the perfect size for an all-around watch, unless you have massive wrists or extremely small ones.

The Explorer II wears pretty big in my opinion. I’d try it on before committing. The older 5 digit version wears amazingly.

40mm 6 digit Rolex are the sweet spot for me

I wear larger but for me it comes down to comfort on the wrist. Case-back shape, weight and lug shape play a big part in how a watch wears. YMMV

Vintage owners have different experiences. They are fixed mostly at 36mm or less. Some models did reach the then outlandish size of 40mm!

In modern models, the scope creep beyond 43-44mm is inevitable.

IMHO, a gym membership should come with any of the monsters. That way some of the new owners can beef-up wrists and forearms to dimensionally match their latest acquisition.
