I'll buy an affordable from time to time, but outside of a couple strap & go quartz watches I keep around, they always end up being quick flips. I also went through a short Seiko modding phase. Just something to think about when I'm bored.

I like it. I'm itching to pull the trigger on a Submariner homage from Squale even though I have a real one.

If you collect for "the love", I don't see anything wrong with buying what you like! I also think experiencing a wide range of price points helps to get a feel for the differences in quality. The jump from my first diver, an Invicta 8926OB, to the Rolex SubC and now my Squale in the middle, has shown me why the prices are what they are. The Squale is no where near the Rolex but the Invicta feels cheap next to the Squale. It's an interesting perspective... |

You will probably enjoy it. You will also see why the Sub costs 10x more! A lot people say you're a premium for the crown only but now that I have both I can say one can instantly feel the difference! Same goes for a Seiko Vs the Squale though, the Swiss movt. just feels different!

Doesn’t mean anything other than you like watches...or you like the “hit” of buying something, anything!
I try to stay away from quartz, my only rule these days for the more affordable stuff. |
